With brass arch top dial ornamented with spandrels and having chapter ring, housing an eight day double fusee movement striking hourly on a bell, 74.5 cm. Condition Report. A Fine Quality Late 18th Century Eight Day Longcase Clock by Laurence Dalgleish of Edinburgh Circa 1795. The mahogany 'fiddle' veneered case inlaid with stringing and having a swan-necked hood with delicately fretted boxwood insets of scrolling foliage above fluted columns topped by gilded Corinthian capitals. The trunk having recessed quarter columns either side. The 12 ins (30 cm) dial having a silvered chapter ring with outer minute divisions encircling a silvered centre engraved with ho-ho birds amidst sprays of foliage flanking a recessed seconds dial in a serpentine edged aperture, a ring of calendar marked to the outer edge and inscribed maker's name Laur. Dalgleish Edinburgh. Standing 87 ins (221 cms) in height.

The case having an original rising hood with latch and ebonised barleytwist columns to the corners. The trunk inlaid with panels of marquetried birds and flowers,75¼ ins (191 cms) in height.

The base of the dial signed Nathaniel Hodges Londini Fecit, the corners adorned with scrolling cherub head spandrels. The woodgrained case having a converted rising hood with pierced pediment carved with a cherub's head and flowers above integral barley twist corner columns. The trunk door with fielded panels and a glazed oval aperture to the centre. 80½ ins (204.5 cms) high.

The 11¾ ins (30 cm) arched dial having a painted moon-roller below engraved maker's name; George Clapham Brigg. The chapter ring encircling an engraved centre depicting a sailing boat and castle, with a calendar aperture and recessed seconds dial. The flame figured case having a swan-neck pediment to the hood surmounted by spired brass ball finials with blind fretwork to the corners above fluted side columns. The trunk with recessed quarter columns flanking a moulded arch topped door. 96 ins (245 cms) in height.
