A 19th century American mahogany cased longcase clock, the brass dial signed, signed Mills, Dowling, engraved with an eagle, having an eight day movement, striking on a bell, 227cm high overallCondition report: Looks to be complete, but we have not had it running, as the wires are very twisted which support the weights. Hands do not move, quite as they should when pushed, so it likely needs setting up before it can be used and even then we cannot guarantee it works, as it is very old. The movement does appear to be complete and running free. Has weights, pendulum and key. Door to the hood has lost a pin, so falls forwards when opened. Was collected from an estate, where it had not been running recently. The case is basically complete, but does show the age and wear expected with an item of this age.

The movement looks clean, very complicated and well made and we have got it running. The case is well made and complete, with three brass cased weights and pendulum. The seat board has been adjusted in height with additional timber, but the dial does fit quite well. The case is not restored so has various dry and marked areas, some of which could be caused from damp. Behind the 10 o'clock is the third barrel, behind the winding hole.
