A SCOTTISH GEORGE III "MOON PHASES" CLOCK, BY J. CAMERON AND SONS, KILMARNOCK, EARLY 19TH CENTURY, IN LATER OAK LONGCASE, CIRCA 1870s, the bonnet composed of a classical broken pediment cornice centering a stylized fan detail and flanked by two acroteria, above a reeded frieze and flat architrave over a hinged door with glazed arch rectangular window, opening to a conforming Arabic numerals moon phases dial centering painted moon faces on a lapis blue sky filled with golden stars, above a silvered ring dial with black Roman hour chapters and Arabic five minute numerals, enclosing a minutes ring dial and days of the month ring dial with blued steel pointers, amidst engraved scrolling acanthus centering blued steel halberd and pike hands flanked by twin key escapements, engraved signature "J. Cameron & Sons Kilmarnock," above along hinged door with a molding framed twist pleated panel over a molded flat panel, opening to a long pendulum with brass disc bob and two cast iron weights, above exterior reeded trim on a molded box form paneled base raised on a molding detailed arched plinth ending as block form feet, includes one winding lever. Height: 7' 4 1/4" Width: 21" Depth: 15 3/4" Provenance: Personal Collection of Nora Grossman, Houston, Texas. Condition: Good condition with a few light marks and small scratches around base, dings, tiny edge nicks and surface buildup in crevices throughout. The clock dials have some expected tarnished spots and there is light dust in spandrel crevices. The mechanism was restored in 1975 and is clean. An unusual and rare early 19th century 8-day mahogany longcase clock, the 14 x 20 inch painted, arched dial having a very unusual 'separated' layout of time dial to the lower half, seconds dial above, calendar to the left hand side, phases of the moon to the right, and rocking ship automaton to the arch, possibly intended to represent HMS Victory. No false plate or makers name evident, though the styling of dial and case suggests a Northern maker, the 8-day bell striking movement has an unusual layout, needed to operate the separated functions on the dial, case of mahogany veneers with inlaid stringing, hood with square columns, swan-neck pediment and lions mask spandrels, with pendulum and two cast iron weights, 224 cm tall, large 13.5" dial housing 7" clock dial, 4.5" date dial, moon phase 5" across and 4" seconds dial, case is believed to be original to the movement.Condition Report: Movement is clean and appears to have been service recently, dial has been slightly retouched, the case is sound with some minor veneer and inlay loss and case is believed to be original to the movement. The seatboard is nailed into the case cheeks. Our opinion is the seatboard/movement are correct for the case
An early 18th century 8-day brass dial mahogany longcase clock, the 12 inch square brass dial having applied chapter ring and cast spandrels, the chapter ring engraved for Taylor, Ormskirk, probably Jonathan listed by Loomes as working c1720 to 1730, case having bullseye glass to the trunk door, flat-topped hood with columns integral with the door and inlaid decoration, 222cm tall with pendulum and weights.Condition Report: Dial is in good order with minor wax loss and the hour hand is an earlier replacement, movement is in 'aged' condition and needs servicing although it may run as is, trains operate with pressure. Has an unusual pin crutch with slot in pendulum. Caese is generally good, slightly faded, hood is darker with good inlays and old glass, no loss to mouldings, finial or pediment missing and hood lock latch is present.

Frodsham, Change Alley, London, the three weight driven movement with a 1.75in cylinder striking on eight bells and also a gong, the case inlaid with foliate scrolls and vignettes to the door and base, height 240cm.

Mahogany longcase clock by Rob’t Best, London with pendulum and weights. Repair to wooden section of pendulum. Back finial on hood has been glued and repair to top section on front of hood. 86” (218cm) high x 15.5” (39cm) width of base, 10.5” (27cm) width of middle and 12” (31cm) deep. 18th century, Italian School, oil on canvas - portrait of a young boy in profile, 31cm x 24cm, in ornate parcel gilt and carved Florentine frame, 71cm x 53cm overallCondition report: Re-lined several decades ago. Evidence of cracks (?) or a tear prior to re-lining, a stretcher mark along the lower edge which has been touched in. Some scuffing and scratching but nothing serious - see images to best show the condition - images 14-34 are taken with a flash. The image showing the picture hanging on a wall beside a longcase clock to show the scale. The last 8 images are taken with a UV torch shining across the picture. Provenace: in the same local family ownership since at the least the early 1950s, but most likely longer than that date.It has been suggested that this portrait depicts Batholomew Beale, the son of Mary Beale. The walnut case with ornate floral and bird marquetry decoration , spiral twist columns to hood and lenticle glass to door, raised on bun feet. Pendulum and twin brass weights present.The case 203 cm high, the trunk 29 cm wide, the base 36.5 cm wideProvenance: Estate of the late Jane SumnerCondition report: Good overall condition. Does run but stops after 10 minutes or so ( may not be set up here properly ) Striking mechanism disconnected and may have a missing part. The case is in good condition. It has been restored and has some old worm holes to the hood door and other areas. It does have its original door key and working lock.There may be some re-veneering and other repairs to the case.The hood glass is not original , nor is the lenticle glass. Please see additional images. On further inspection by our clock specialist we do believe the movement is not original to the case. It is a six pillar movement not a four pillar as previously described.Dial measures approximately 28cm x 28cm
