Some damage to one area of marquetry on the top and odd small sections of missing veneer around edges in places but basically an attractive item.
LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY FRENCH VERNISMARTIN DESIGN SERPENTINE FRONTED WALNUT DISPLAY CABINET overall with gilt metal mounts, single glazed door with painted figural panel below and similar landscape panels to each side, signed A. Couvert, glass shelf to the interior on splayed metal mounted legs. 69.5 x 38cm approx. (B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Some wear with minor losses to painted panels in places, rather grubby overall. Gilt metal pediment is detached.
FINE 19TH CENTURY FRENCH WALNUT STRAIGHT FRONTED DISPLAY CABINET having swept top, above a pair of glazed doors with foliate inlaid panels below, revealing two plate glass shelves to the interior, canted sides with serpentine glazing over similar foliate inlaid panels, overall with good quality ormolu mounts, geometric and foliate designs with lion masks on bold paw feet. Circa 1875. 163 x 48 x 170cm approx. This item has been flood damaged and is sold without reserve.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: This item has been flood damaged and was immersed in river water up to the second shelf. Although appearing still in remarkably good condition there is evidence in places of lifting veneers, one of the rear legs joint has expanded and there are a few minor pieces of missing veneer. Sold as seen. Veneers in lower portions are loose in places and coming away - some minor losses (so far). Exceedingly good quality, particularly the mounts. Marble top is lost.
Good late 19th century walnut credenza, by Gillow & Co., in the Aesthetic style, of trapezoidal form, the mirrored shelf back with carved ornament and balustrade gallery, with single drawer to the Victorian scroll carved frieze and shelved interior enclosed by glazed doors, on stiles, stamped to frieze drawer and numbered - Gillow & Co. 9875, 139cm wide x 40cm deep x 142cm high CONDITION REPORT Now fitted with glass shelves (probably recent alteration) minor wear and scratches, a little staining to top, generally condition is very good
