A Victorian mahogany cylinder bureau bookcase the dentil carved pediment with outset corners supported on turned columns, flanking a pair of glazed doors enclosing two shelves, the base with a reel carved cylinder front enclosing a fitted interior with four drawers and eight pigeonholes, over a pair of panelled cupboard doors enclosing a single shelf, 45in. (114cm.) wide, 75½in. (192cm.) high.
An Aesthetic walnut, thuya, parcel gilt and painted side cabinet, by Gillow & Co., possibly after a design by Bruce Talbot, breakfront top above an arrangement of three drawers, above a pair of panelled cupboards painted with classical figures, stamped GILLOW & CO. 969, opening to a shelf, above spindle supports and a frieze, the sides with carved acanthus capitals, fluted pillars and stylised flowerheads, on turned feet, 105.5cm high, 103cm wide, 49cm deep. A very closely related cabinet is described as being almost identical to sketch 10233, 21st August 1877 in the Gillow Estimate Sketchbook, even to the painted panels costing £1-15- 0, total cost was £27-0-6d. Made by B. Braithwaite for the 1st floor of the Grand Midland Hotel at St Pancras to the designs of Bruce Talbert. The designer Bruce Talbert (1838-1881) supplied designs for several furniture makers, including the firm of Gillow & Co and he created a number of pieces for the Gillows stand at the Great Exhibition in 1872 View on dnfa.com
A Victorian carved oak twin pedestal partner`s desk, incorporating 16th century and later panels and appliques, the inverted breakfront top inset replaced brown cloth, the underside stamped `H. MAYNARD`, to a carved edge above three shallow frieze drawers applied earlier carved friezes of scrolling foliage, angels, putti, beasts, a dolphin and dragons, above cupboard doors, enclosing a shelf, on a plinth base, each pedestal with six earlier panels depicting mainly religious scenes, each flanked by female terms, 29.5in (75cm) h, 65 (165cm) w, 46.5in (118cm) d. Provenance: Purchased at the Woolley & Wallis sale of the contents of Landford Manor, May 1950. Landford Manor during the 19th century was owned by the Nelson Family. Francis Elizabeth Countess Nelson resided there from 1861-1878 she married Thomas the 2nd Earl in 1821. Thomas was the son of Lord Horatio Nelson`s sister Susannah.
A carved oak credence cupboard in 15th century style, the central cupboard door with the Virgin and child, and another figure set within niches, with a cast bronze lock flanked by two further figures enclosing a shelf, above a deep frieze drawer and a linenfold panelled back to the open base, 57.5in (146cm) h, 38.25in (97cm) w, 19.25in (49cm) d.

Sold on behalf of the executors of Dr John Birch deceased.
