A lacewood, mahogany and marquetry circular drum table by Collinson & Locke, circa 1880, the circular top with central inlaid flower motif flanked by segmented lacewood veneer, the outer edge dentil inlaid, the circular top opening to reveal a shallow open well, the interior stamped 'Collinson & Locke, London-No.4465’, the frieze with three inlaid sunflower motifs over boxwood and sycamore stringing, the three tapering supports with similar corner inlay united by a flat concave shelf stretcher on three splay short legs, 17.75" diameter, 26" high. Collinson & Locke was established in London in the third quarter of the 19th century and their rapid rise to success was marked by their move in 1871 to extensive new premises in St Bride Street in 1897, the firm was taken over by Gillows but continued to produce furniture of this type for several years
