A late Victorian Arts and Crafts Moorish walnut framed folding 'Five o'Clock Tea-cup Screen' by Liberty & Co, fitted with mashrabiya and frosted glass panels painted with chrysanthemums, the folding shelf sections above pierced arches, on block supports, height approx 120cm, width approx 88cm (faults). Note: a similar example of this screen is illustrated in 'Liberty's Furniture 1875-1915' by Daryl Bennett, p.106.
An Edwardian Arts and Crafts oak 'Lochleven' sideboard by Liberty & Co, the shelf back with a leaded glazed cabinet with turned side supports, the base with patinated handles and hinges, on block supports, height approx 189cm, width approx 183cm, depth approx 56cm. Note: similar examples of this sideboard are illustrated in 'Liberty's Furniture 1875-1915' by Daryl Bennett, p.107 and p.117.
A George III mahogany linen press, with detachable broken pediment above a pair of panelled doors enclosing shelves and drawers, the base fitted with a slide above four drawers with brass drop handles and raised on bracket feet. Width 128 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The detachable cornice is in generally very good condition with no significant losses to the dentil work or mouldings. The doors are in generally good order and not warped. The lock escutcheons are probably later as are the handles and drawer lock escutcheons. There is a small section of moulding missing to the right hand side of the lock in the recess of the canted angle of the centre panel. In our opinion this is not significant. The sides of the top are in very good condition. The sides of the base are in good order also. The bracket feet are structurally very sound and appear to be original. All drawer fronts are in good condition with no losses to the cockbeading. There have been some old repairs and marks on the rails by the upper lock plates but again these are not in our opinion significant. The interior is now fitted for hanging and there is only one interior shelf and three low interior shallow drawers. The piece could be used in its current condition without the need for any repairs or restoration.
An early 19th century mahogany corner washstand, with single drawer and raised on splayed legs. Width 58 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Generally good condition. There are no issues with the upstand. The top surface has four old stress cracks to the facing aperture supports but in our opinion these are barely significant. The top frieze is in good condition as is the middle shelf and the drawer and two dummy drawers. The lower shelf is in good condition. The legs are in good order with no damage or repairs. The piece is structurally sound with no woodworm.
A late Regency/William IV mahogany waterfall bookcase, with six open shelves, shallow drawer to base and raised on short bun feet. Width 117 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Height 194 cm, depth at deepest point 33 cm, depth at shallowest point 11.5 cm. The bookcase is in generally very good order with only very minor problems. The top pediment is in good condition all across the front. There are two small sections of return moulding missing at the bottom right hand corner and less so at the top right hand corner, these are minimal. The left hand return has a very small loss at the back by the wall at the rear. The sides of the piece are in exceptionally good condition. All shelf fronts are in extremely good order with only the odd stress fracture and minor scuff mark. The plinth base is in good order as are the original feet. The backboards are softwood and there are old stress fractures which should be visible from our image. The general appearance and colour of the lot is very good, the piece is structurally extremely sound and there is no evidence of any woodworm.
A 19th century French stand, with fine ormolu mounts, square form, with tapered legs, low shelf and capped feet. Width 39 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The top is in generally good order with only minor surface scratches to the centre. There are some very minor nibbles to the edges of the top but no significant issues. The metalwork is in good order. The frieze metalwork is all in generally good condition although it has lost much of its original gilding. There is a small 4 mm section of one scroll which seems to have some white paint or something of that nature on the metal. All of the metal mouldings to the legs are present and appear complete. There are some scuffs to the legs but again no significant issues. The shelf has stress fractures to left and right but again these are not particularly problematic. All feet are present. The piece is structurally solid.
A Regency rosewood chiffonier, with mirrored galleried back, pair of doors with brass grilles and raised on a plinth base. Width 107 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The depth at the deepest point is 40 cm. The interior is fitted with one removable shelf. The shelf depth is 28 cm. The brass gallery is original. The top shelf is in generally good order with one very minor veneer loss at the rear of the right hand return. The rear supports are a little loose at the joints. The mirror plate is later. The turned columns are in good condition. The top of the chiffonier is in generally good order with no significant splitting or damage. The crossbanded edge is in good condition as is the frieze. The sides of the piece are in good order. The doors are not significantly warped. They do not quite meet in the middle but this is to a large extent disguised by the edging strip. The trellis panels are in good order. The material behind is a little faded. The front of the plinth base has a veneer repair bottom left and there is some veneer missing on the left hand return. The interior is a little dusty.
A Liberty style oak octagonal occasional table, two tier, raised on turned legs with pad feet. Width 47 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The table top is in generally good order with no significant marking. The top is flat. One of the six sides to the top has an edge scuff and very small timber losses. The arcaded frieze is in good condition all round as are the legs and shelf. There is no evidence of any repairs or restoration. There is no woodworm. The only minor issue is the scuff to the edge of one side of the top and other small marks that one might expect from something of this age.
An Edwardian inlaid mahogany standing corner display cabinet, with moulded cornice above a ribbon and swag frieze, with glazed door with scrolling astragals flanked by flat pilasters being satinwood banded and raised on tapered legs of square section united by a low shelf and terminating in spade feet. Width 69.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Width across cornice 70 cm, height 186 cm, depth 38 cm. The condition of the cabinet is generally very good, there is no evidence of any repairs or restoration. The cornice has some minor scuffs and nibbles as do the edges of the main body of the carcass. These are minimal and would easily be solved with a light polish. The glass is all in good order. The door is not warped. The legs and shelf are in good condition with no damage, there is no evidence of any woodworm. The interior shelves and lining are in basically good condition.
A mahogany bookcase, in the William IV style, small form, and raised on short lobed feet. Width 68 cm, height 87 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The component parts of the bookcase are William IV. They are however in our opinion the two ends from a low breakfront bookcase that have been shortened. There is a join across the top and through the frieze. The shelf dividers in the centre are double and the little piece of moulding below this at the base is let in. The piece is in generally very good condition and is ready to use in its current state without the need for any repair or restoration. There is one veneer repair to the top centre rear but other than this the piece is in very good general condition.
