Good late 19th Century French red boulle, ebonised and gilt metal-mounted, marble-topped secretaire a abattant, of 'semainier' design with serpentine front and sides, the former with three red tortoiseshell and cut brass faux drawers to hinged fall (enclosing a rosewood interior with shelf and two shaped drawers), over four conforming true drawers, all with cast escutcheons, on shaped plinth base with mounts, 57cm x 37cm x 120cm highCondition report: Minor crack and small loss to marble top. Wrinking to ebonsed sides. A few minor cracks and a litle infuilling to drawer fronts but genetrally in much better order than usual pieces of this type, with no lifting to brass work and no blistering to tortoiseshell, overall a stylish piece in good order.
