Early 18th Century brass lantern timepiece of small proportions, George Wentworth, Oxon, the 4.25 break arch brass dial having a silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals framing inner quarter hour track and single hand, with Arabic alarm dial, the verge and crownwheel escapement striking on a bell surmount, the clock operating on two weighted pulleys, one with chain, one with rope, in a contemporary oak longcase with cavetto-moulded cornice over square hood door, long trunk door and plain base with plinth, 182cm high overall Condition: Dial in good condition but probably cleaned/restored, movement appears clean and sound, however we suspect conversion from verge to anchor and back to verge, case is missing finials to the tops of the four pillars, case is contemporary but maybe associated as clock may have stood simply upon a shelf, bell is likely to be of later date, case has replacement roof boards, losses to right corner of trunk, some vertical splits/patching beneath trunk door, sold with two period weights - We do not guarantee the movement or accuracy of clocks - Please see extra images and TELEPHONE department if you require further information

A small organ by Longman, London, c.1805 The mahogany inlaid case with four integrated square tapered legs inlaid with simple boxwood stringing. Concave fronted shelf below, with pedal for pumping. The three octave and four note keyboard CC-e3 with ivory naturals and ebony accidentals. One knee-operated stop pedal in brass. Forty-one wooden pipes. The mahogany name batten bearing a black painted panel inscribed: John Longman 131 Cheapside London. Width 67.5cm, depth 64.5cm, total height 70.5cm. Literature: The Colt Clavier Collection Golden Jubilee 1944-1981, p. 32, (125) M518O. Provenance: According to Colt this organ was probably used in the South African War.
A square piano by Longman & Broderip, London, circa 1785 The mahogany case cross-banded with satinwood and with chevron inlaid stringing, the frame stand with square tapered legs veneered en suite and with brass paterae. Later shelf underneath. The keywell veneered in satinwood, cross-banded and with an inlaid stringing of double lozenges, the satinwood name plaque beneath foliate garlands bearing the inscription: Longman and Broderip Musical Instrument Makers, No 20 Cheapside and No 13 Hay Market London. The five and a half octave keyboard FF-c4 with ivory naturals and ebony accidentals. English single action with over-dampers. Three hand stops controlling divided dampers and buff stop. Width 154cm, depth 54cm, case height including lid 21cm.
A square piano by Rolfe, London, circa 1805 The mahogany case cross-banded with satinwood and inlaid with geometric fruitwood stringing, raised on a frame stand veneered en suite and with brass castors and paterae. Shelf underneath. The satinwood veneered nameboard cross-banded with rosewood and inlaid with ebony and boxwood lines and with two pierced panels. Painted with Turk's cap lilies, primulas, sweet peas, roses and auricula. Inscribed on a red painted oval plaque beneath a foliate garland: William Rolfe, No 112 Cheapside London. The five and a half octave keyboard FF-c4 with ivory naturals and ebony accidentals. Double action with pedal operated over-dampers. The five octave keyboard FF-f3 with ivory naturals and ebony accidentals. English single action with brass under-dampers. Bearing a paper label in English and French on the inside of the spine giving instruction on how to deal with keys that stick and dampers that rattle.
