Provenance by repute this impressive cupboard was one of a pair and formed part of a commission by Charles Vane, Sixth Marquis of Londonderry for Wynyard Hall, County Durham. In 1911 the piece was purchased by the Parker family of Lanchester, County Durham and thence by descent to the current vendor.
