A pair of Victorian giltwood and gesso mirror backed wall bracketslate 19th centurythe rocaille and flowerhead crestings above side uprights and enclosing arched mirror plates, the bowed breakfront shelves above ribbon tied and harebell aprons, refinished (2)height 76cm, width 27cmCondition: They have both been refinished in a rather amateur way and some areas are a little gloopy and definition is lacking. There are old repairs to the ribbon tied aprons in places and one cresting has been restored. A moulding to the front edge of the shelf is loose on one mirror.
A late 18thC George III oak and mahogany corner display corner, with an out swept pediment, over an astragal glazed door, enclosing a cream painted interior with three shelves, above a pair of cupboard doors, enclosing a further shelf, raised on bracket feet, 210cm high, 106cm wide, 49cm deep.
A PAINTED WARDROBE IN 18TH CENTURY STYLE 20TH CENTURY Bearing date 1826 to the cupboard door, enclosing a hanging rail 168cm high, 97cm wide, 47cm deep Condition Report: As catalogued this is of 20th century make but in an earlier style, would appear to have signs of 'aging' to give the appearance of an antique example, with surface 'wear', 'chips' 'distressing'. An early 20th Century walnut smoker’s cabinet, the hinged doors with glazed panel, opening to reveal brass pipe stands on their inside, the interior of the cabinet an arrangement of drawers with brass handles, and an open bottom shelf, 41.5 x 20.5 x 46cms high; together with a 20th Century oak smoker’s cabinet, with brass mounts and handle, with rolling top opened by the bottom drawer, revealing an arrangement of compartments. A George III mahogany breakfront secretaire bookcase1785-1800, probably by GillowsThe ogee moulded cornice above four segmented lancet astragal glazed panelled doors, enclosing seven short and four long adjustable shelves, over a mahogany lined secretaire drawer enclosing a leather inset slide with a central adjustable hinged ratcheted writing surface, with a central open compartment below, flanked by six hinged lidded compartments each inlaid with a central ivory oval tablet engraved with alphabetical lettering, above a pair of re-entrant panelled doors with turned roundel angles, enclosing one shelf, flanked by two conforming doors enclosing three shelves, on a moulded plinth base, approximately: 212cm wide x 62cm deep x 244cm high, (83in wide x 24in deep x 96in high)Footnotes:Inside the secretaire drawer of the offered lot is a distinctive arrangement of neat hinged lidded compartments which are each inlaid with a central ivory oval tablet engraved with letters in sequence, which altogether comprise the entirety of the alphabet. This is often a recurrent element of similar case furniture, but especially kneehole desks, which were made by Gillows during the period, 1785-1810. The cabinet having a raised single tier chiffonier gallery back, with carved eagle decoration mounted atop and a single shaped shelf raised on turned columns below. With two cupboard doors to the front, below two drawers having brass handles, the sideboard raised on a plinth base. Measures approx 163 x 105 x 42 cm.
