Hutchins (John) The History of Dorset, four volumes, London 1870, half calf (4) See illustration Condition report Report by GH All plates appear to be present in Volume 1. There is one additional print on top of those listed, namely IXXIV Trademen's tokens. There are also two plates listed in the index, namely Reprint of Holme (page 551), and Reprint of Steple (page 597), that are listed in the index of plates but do not appear to be present in the book. There appears to be no evidence of these having been cut out, so we can assume that these were never present. In Volume 2, there is a plate listed in the index, namely Count House (page 748), which is also present, but does not appear to bear any evidence of having been cut out or removed, so we might also assume that this was never present in the book. Volumes 3 and 4 are complete. Bindings are strong. Leather spines also in good condition, but worn and rubbed. Some bumps and shelf wear to the bottom of the books. Overall volumes present very well commensurate with age, appear to be in original bindings. Pages generally clean, occasional spotting and foxing predominantly in the first few pages of each volume. Plates generally clean. Very occasional finger marks but overall good.
