An Edwardian mahogany framed mirror backed shop hanging display cabinet. Of rounded rectangular form with curved glass single door and adjustable shelves. 64.5 wide x 93 cm high x 16.5 cm deep. Shelf size 56 cm long x 9.9 cm deep. Mirror back size 84 cm high x 54 cm wide (note: mirror back fitted in three pieces.The locks are keyed alike but the top lock keeper of the top lock doesn't locate into the mortice. I think this is due to some warping to the back upright. Given a little pressure on the top the keeper locates, this isn't practical in usage, and remedial work will be required.Condition report: No apparent major defects
A fine early 18th century walnut bureau cabinet; the double domed top surmounted with later finials above two mirrored doors opening to reveal a complex multitude of varying sized and shaped drawers, top shelf space and a pair of tall, concave central doors opening to reveal four smaller half-width drawers within and two Classical-style stop fluted columns over three further concave-fronted drawers, two candle slides above a cross-banded and feather banded angular fall with double D moulding and having a book rest opening to reveal the bureau interior with pigeon holes and further varying sized drawers and above two half-width drawers over a waist moulding with three full-width graduated drawers below within double D mouldings, raised on later bun feet (professionally restored and with some later additions/woodwork) (approx. 231cm high x 103cm widest x 66cm deepest)
A pair of French late 19th century ormolu mounted kingwood, bois satine and marquetry bombe serpentine vitrinesprobably by Francois Linke or Maison KriegerWith different moulded marble tops, each mounted with flowers, wheat sheaves, C- and S-scrolls, ribbon wrapped floral bouquets, and a scallop shell surmounting a waterfall, the door comprising a shaped glazed panel within a mounted surround over a shaped and scrolled half veneered cartouche inlaid with assorted flowers, enclosing a mirror-inset back, two glass shelves and a wooden shelf below, with similar ends, on cabochon embedded foliate and rocaille scrolled sabots, the reverse of both lockplates stamped: 'DUVIVIER, PARIS, 77 Fg, St. Antoine', 88cm wide x 50cm deep x 162cm high, (34 1/2in wide x 19 1/2in deep x 63 1/2in high) (2)Footnotes:The reverse of the lock on the offered lot is stamped for Duvivier of 77, Faubourg St. Antoine, in Paris. The renowned Rue du Faubourg St. Antoine, which has historically served as the base for a number of important 18th and 19th century French cabinet makers, was the street upon which the locksmith Duvivier's business was located. Such locks by Duvivier have been discovered on furniture produced by Linke and Krieger. A French late 19th century ormolu mounted kingwood, bois satine, amaranth, marquetry and parquetry bombe serpentine hauteur d'appui or pier cabinetprobably by Francois Linke or Joseph-Emanuel ZwienerMounted with shaped cartouches, scrolls, flowers, acanthus foliage, rocaille and trelliswork, the shaped marble top with a moulded edge surmounted by a pierced brass flowerhead-and-scroll gallery, above a door (now locked shut) inlaid with fish scales and a half veneered panel inlaid with a floral bouquet, enclosing one shelf, with similarly inlaid sides, the apron mounted with a central waterfall surmounted by a scallop shell, terminating in foliate wrapped scroll and rocaille sabots, 77cm wide x 49cm deep x 108cm high, (30in wide x 19in deep x 42 1/2in high)Footnotes:Similar 'crab-like' waterfall, shell and foliate mounts to the one appearing prominently to the centre of the apron on the present lot are more typically associated with the oeuvre of Francois Linke, and can often be directly linked to the designs of Leon Message. A pair of Royal Worcester cabinet plates by William Hawkins, dated 1909Finely painted with circular still life panels of fruit, one with an upturned crab, glass decanter and tazza, the other with a jug and a dish on a shelf covered in lace, both signed 'W.A. HAWKINS', within tooled gilt borders reserved on apple-green grounds, the white scroll moulded rims with floral detailing highlighted in gilding, 20cm diam, puce marks, shape number 2367 (2)Footnotes:Worcester's foreman painter, William Hawkins excelled at painting still lives and always created his own compositions.
