A Mid XIX Century Rosewood Serpentine Shaped Three Tier What-Not, with pierced and shaped back, three shelves and turned and reeded supports, 110cm high, 97cm wide.Lot 1492 - there is two pieces of fretwork missing middle and bottom shelf, three of the turned supports have been repaired, finial top missing, piece of veneers missing just below the bottom shelf.
A Victorian watchman's shelf clock, dial marked Clerke, 1 Royal Exchange, London. Heavy brass chain fusee movement, with original pendulum retaining knob, passing strike on bell every hour. Mahogany case with bevelled glass side windows, 7 1/2" brass bezel with thick bevelled glass, silvered dial and roman numerals. When locked with padlocked rod, tab on bezel hides winding arbor. Clock mounted on matching mahogany plinth. Clock is operated by the watchman pressing the spring-loaded plunger on the top of the case which depresses a pin around the edge of the dial. The clock mechanism re-sets the depressed pins automatically, total height 39cm
