The top is manufactured from two pieces of oak and there is a shrinkage gap between the two boards. There is however no movement. The top has very few significant marks or any damage to speak of. There is a loss to the very rear right-hand corner of the rear plank above the applied edge moulding. The sides are panelled and there are no splits to the panels. The drawer fronts do not appear to have any repairs or timber losses. The handles do have age but are probably not original. They go through the original handle holes. The lock escutcheons are clearly old but again unlikely to be original. All drawers have locks. We have no keys. All doors have movement at the hinges and need to be slightly lifted to close. The right-hand door has a partially missing handle. The plinth base moulding is in good condition all round. The front feet brackets are a little scuffed and knocked but have no significant problems. There is a later brass rail. The door fronts are well figured and in generally good order with only minor stress fractures to the veneers. The original colour is good. Drawer two has some missing cockbeading to the bottom right hand corner and a smaller amount to the bottom left. The handles whilst clearly old are not original. It looks as if there has been a knob handle at some point. The backplates however cover the knob handle hole. The sides of both the top and base are in generally good condition with no significant problems. The bracket feet are scuffed and marked and do have some losses to the veneers. The shaped apron to the front also has minor veneer losses. The backboards are original.
