A George III oak dresser with Delft rack, with moulded cornice above a series of open shelves, the base fitted with a cupboard and drawers with brass drop handles with shaped backplates and raised on bracket feet. Width 190 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Height of base 87.5 cm, depth 53 cm, width 190 cm. Depth of rack 20 cm, height of rack 110 cm. The dresser and rack are in very good overall condition. It is also a good colour. There is a small loss to the top left hand return moulding to the cornice. There is a small loss to the bottom right hand corner of the shaped apron below the cornice. The top of the dresser itself is in generally good condition. The join between the two planks that make up the top is slightly open. There is no movement and the top is flat. The moulded edge is good condition. The sides are in good order as are the bracket feet which are original and structurally sound. The handles to each drawer are not original. There have been other handles and handle holes and backplate marks are visible on all drawer fronts. All drawers run reasonably well. The cupboard is in good condition and not warped. The interior shelf is original.
An Edwardian inlaid rosewood purdonium, with three quarter gallery, two open shelves and fall front coal receiver, the whole raised on turned legs with castors. Width 40 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Generally in good condition. Some minor scuffs and dirty in the reveals. There are some minor crossbanded veneer losses to the top left and right returns. The door operates as it should. There is no liner. The sides are in good condition. All legs are intact and original. There is a small crossbanded veneer loss to the right hand side edge of the middle shelf.
A late Victorian mahogany Canterbury, four divisions, with turned supports, low shelf and castors. Width 42 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Structurally sound. No significant breaks. Two of the turned corner uprights have old screw repairs. The screw heads are just visible. The polish is a little tired. Castors original. Slightly sprung corner joints.
A George III mahogany square washstand, with fold over top, rear slide, cupboard door and drawer. Width 39 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This piece whilst original is fairly tired. Restoration will be needed to the cross banding on the mirror frame. The sliding mechanism does operate. Hinges are original. The top closes as it should. Both sides have front to back splits. Both handles are present. The back has a left to right split. The door is marked around the handle as is the upright. The legs are structurally solid as is the low shelf. It is a little tired.
A Victorian walnut four tier whatnot stand, raised on short turned legs. Width 61 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The top shelf veneers are a little stained and slightly rippled. There is one small loss. The remaining three shelves are in generally good order. There are minor missing pieces of cross banding. The piece is structurally sound the legs are original. Drawer front in good order, colour good.
A 19th century mahogany hat and coat stand, with circular shelf, umbrella supports and drip trays. CONDITION REPORT: One hat peg has been broken and re-glued. Other than this the piece is in genrally very good condition. There is a small veneer loss to the circular base and minor scuffs. The tin plate trays are all rusty with paint losses.
A George III mahogany serpentine fronted side cabinet, with single drawer above a pair of panelled cupboard doors enclosing shelves and raised on ogee bracket feet. Width 109 cm. CONDITION REPORT: There is one internal shelf which does lift out. Depth of shelf at deepest point 18 ins, depth at shallowest point 15.5 ins, width of shelf at narrowest point 35.5 ins, widest point 36.5 ins. The top is flat and of generally good colour. There are some minor marks, scratches and old stress fractures but no losses. The front right hand corner edge moulding has had breaks which have been well repaired. There is a small repair to the rear left hand edge moulding and a small veneer repair to the top in the same place. The drawer front is in generally good condition. There have been several sets of handles. The current handles cover the majority of the handle holes but there is another one visible to the left and right of the respective handles. There is a cock beading repair around the lock plate on the top edge. The drawer lining is in good condition. The door fronts are not warped. They meet correctly in the centre. There are some minor nibbles to the veneers around the extremities but no significant issues. The front bracket feet have had some repair. They are however structurally very sound. The repairs are effective and only visible on close inspection. The serpentine bottom edge moulding is a little nibbled to the edge. The backboards are original. There is a veneer repair to the right hand side of the top drawer which should be visible on our image. The sides of the cabinet are in good order with no splits. The cabinet looks to have been fairly recently waxed and is generally well presented.
A Victorian mahogany adjustable reading table, with book rest, silhouette ends and short bun feet with castors. Width 89 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Height when fully adjusted 128 cm to the top surface. When unadjusted the top surface is 75.5 cm from the floor. The condition of the piece is generally very good. It could be used or resold in its current state without the need for any repairs of restoration. It is structurally sound. Clearly there are a number of old surface marks and scratches particularly to the veneers around the top edge. There are old stress fractures to the veneers but no serious problems. The under frame is in exceptionally good condition. All pieces are original. The bun feet are in good order. All castors are present. The colour is generally very good. The detachable shelf is present. The rise and fall mechanism operates as it should. The hinges are original and the easel support to the underside also.
An Arts & Crafts oak side cabinet, with open shelf and cupboard with metal plaque stamped "Everything In Its Place". Width 51 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Structurally this piece of furniture is in good order. It is solid with no loose joints and no evidence of any woodworm. It is however a little tired. The top surface is marked and the polish not particularly good. It may at some point have been repolished. The moulded edge is a little dented and rough and scuffed in places. The shelf has old watermarks. The sides of the piece are in generally good condition as is the low shelf. The door is not warped. The metal plaque is however showing surface rust and the original paintwork is perishing. There is a plaque to the back of the cabinet but we cannot read the inscription. It does however begin with the capital letter B.
A Regency rosewood chiffonier, with rear shelf, brass columns, frieze drawer, pair of doors with brass grilles and raised on a plinth base. Width 92 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Structurally sound, very minor stress fractures to the veneers on the top but not significant. The side doors and base are in good order. There is no warping.
An oak side table, with pegged top, two frieze drawers, turned legs and low shelf. Width 81.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This side table is reproduction and probably only 50 or 60 years old. The condition is extremely good and the piece could be used in its current state without the need for any work. Width 81 cm, depth 40 cm, height 76 cm.
A Regency mahogany three tier circular dumbwaiter, with lower swivel shelf and raised on three downswept legs terminating in pad feet and castors. Maximum diameter 60 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The top tear is in good order with no issues. The turned column to the second tear is in good order also. There is an extra circular block above the top turning of the column between tears two and three. There are two pegged repairs visible to either side of the bottom turning on the top tear where the new block is attached. The lower tear has a stress fracture running from the centre right to one edge. There is a further less pronounced stress fracture running from the centre column to halfway across the base. Both fractures are visible. The bottom tear is however still flat and rotates as it should. The column beneath is in basically good condition as are the three legs which have their original castors.
A Victorian mahogany console table, with rear carved and shelved upstand, frieze drawer and with scroll supports with rear mirror and basket. Width 88 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Generally extremly good order with no significant issues. There are some minor marks and scratches but no significant veneer losses or damage. The only minor issue is at the bottom of the scroll to the shelf support on both sides has been broken and re-attached. The polish here could be improved.
An Edwardian rosewood twin drop flap occasional table, with frieze drawer and low shelf. Width 46 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The table is structurally sound. There is no evidence of any woodworm. The top surface has one old ring mark and several minor scuffs and scratches. The polish is a little dull. The centre inlaid panel has some small losses to the bone on the right hand side. There is also a 1.5 cm section of boxwood stringing missing in the top left hand corner. Both flaps are flat and not warped. The drawer is in good condition with original handles. The legs are in good order. The low shelf and gallery are in good condition with only minor surface marks. The castors are original.
An Edwardian mahogany bookcase, with rear upstand, single shelf, pair of panelled cupboard doors and raised on a plinth base. Width 111 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Generally good condition. Top flat with no splits. Sides in good order. Cupboard doors no warped and shut as they should. Plinth base generally good condition. Backboards original. Piece structurally sound. One or two minor scratches and marks but nothing significant.
18TH CENTURY WELSH OAK DRESSER BASE with later associated open two shelf rack, the base with moulded edge over three moulded frieze drawers with two short drawers below, pointed arch apron on baluster turned front supports with pot board base on stile feet. 176 x 47 x 189cm.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Very dry and rather faded, lacking in colour and patination, generally with wear and tear, knocks, scuffs and losses commensurate with its age, the rack is lacking its cornice and in similarly poor condition.
EARLY 20TH CENTURY WALNUT DISPLAY CABINET, having arch glazed centre door flanked by two curved and glazed angles, fitted shelves to the interior, on square moulded legs. 124 x 48 x 196cm.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: One section of frieze detached from one side although it is with the item, shrinkage cracks to one side shelf and the side of the centre cabinet section, but basically overall in good condition, a little dry, shelf surfaces are stained and marked.
18TH CENTURY WELSH OAK ONE PIECE STANDING CUPBOARD, having upper section with six ogee fielded panels to the blind door revealing two fitted shelves to the interior, the projecting base with similar blind door having three fielded panels revealing a single shelf to the interior. 69 x 38 x 193cm.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: In fair condition for its age, some rot and losses around the base feet, hinges are replacements, good medium colour, base boards are loose or detached, some restoration required.
LARGE VICTORIAN INLAID WALNUT CREDENZA having overall gilt metal foliate mounts with painted porcelain panels in the Sevres style, glazed bow front centre cabinet with single shelf to the interior with two serpentine glazed end cabinets revealing two shelves to the interior on a shaped platform base with foliate metal mounts. 199 x 56 x 116cm high.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Very grubby, dirty condition, one serpentine end glass is broken, all metal mounts seem to be in place, although a number appear loose, minor splitting to veneers and wear and tear commensurate with age in places. Old ink stains noted to the top.
EARLY 19TH CENTURY WELSH OAK DOG KENNEL DRESSER, having boarded rack back with three shelves under a moulded cornice, having brass hooks, the projecting base with moulded edge top over three cock beaded frieze drawers, two blind panel cupboards below, all with bone escutcheons, flanking and arched dog kennel with inner shelf, on stile feet. Probably Cardiganshire. 156 x 42 x 198cm.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Overall good condition, a little dry, with wear and tear commensurate with age, ink stains to the upper surfaces, one bone escutcheon is missing, return moulding to both sides are missing, basically sound.
