A Victorian oak mirror back sideboard the C-scroll stepped pediment over a central mirror curved panel flanked by a smaller arched mirror and turned supports the moulded rectangular top above three frieze drawers an open shelf and carved cupboard flanked by carved panel cupboard doors on turned feet 152cm wide 206cm high
TWO-PIECE WALL CUPBOARD. Cherry, pine and poplar in dry old crazed surface over red. Upper section has projecting cornice molding over two six-pane doors. Light grey green interior has two fixed shelves with spoon slots and plate rails. Traces of an older dark blue green paint. Two small dovetailed drawers flank the pie shelf. The lower section has three overlapping dovetailed drawers over two recessed panel doors. All doors, drawers and backboards have beaded edges. Turned feet appear original. Some replaced brass. Edge damage to molding under one small drawer. 54 1/2w. 18 1/2d. 83h.
SHERATON WASHSTAND. Mahogany burl veneer and pine. Dovetailed gallery with nicely shaped sides surrounds bowed cutout for washbowl, flanked by two narrow drawers. Scrolled sides decorated with applied bull's-eyes. Shelf in open base over drawer. Rope turned legs. Well made. Appears original. Mellow refinishing. Small veneer chips. 20w. 17 1/2d. 39h.
ENGLISH CHIPPENDALE CHEST OF DRAWERS. Good small size. Walnut and oak. Molded top over pull out butler's shelf. Four graduated dovetailed drawers with applied bead. Full dust boards. Old if not original brasses. Shaped bracket feet. Refinished with good color. Minor pieced repairs. Age splits. 19d. 30w. 31 1/2h.
WELSH CUPBOARD. Two-part oak and walnut with oak and pine secondary. Good color and mellow old refinishing. The top has a bold cornice with architectural rails and stiles and three shelves. The base has five dovetailed drawers with cock beading, bone keyhole escutcheons and replaced brass knobs. It is supported in front by four turned posts and has shaped bracket feet and a latticework shelf. Small pieced repairs with the base of the top replaced and part of a back foot facing missing. 90w. 18 1/2d. 86h.
SHERATON WASHSTAND. Thick curly maple boards with poplar secondary. Turned legs, one dovetailed drawer with a rounded drawer front and a bottom shelf with boldly scalloped front edge. Plain back splash. Top and shelf are two boards but figure is good. Refinished with a few replaced glue blocks. 25w. 17 1/4d. 36 1/4h.
OHIO HANGING SHELF. Walnut and mixed wood. Signed in pencil Lewis Spohn & Son/ Shanesville [Tuscarawas County] Ohio on drawer bottom. Shaped ends with one shelf over two dovetailed drawers. Clear finish. Lewis was born in 1847 in Perry County, Ohio, and by 1882 was doing a flourishing business in furniture according to a Canal Dover [Tuscarawas County] newspaper. His son Edward was born in 1877. Finish is crazed on drawer fronts. 34 1/2w. 8d. 24h.
WARDROBE. Possibly Sonnenberg. Curly maple, figured cherry and poplar. Bold cornice over case with rounded corners and two flat panel doors with cherry insets. Doors open to separate compartments, each with one fixed shelf and three long hanging pegs. Wardrobe breaks down into two halves. Refinished with good color. Replaced hinges, pieced repair and age splits. 19 1/2d. at cornice. 69w. 80h.
