A Regency rosewood chiffonier, with three quarter pierced brass gallery to the rear shelf, with turned supports and rear upstand above a breakfront fitted with four panelled cupboard doors with brass edging strips opening to shelves and flanked by applied pillars with stiff leaf carved capitals. Width 55.5 ins (see illustration).
A late 19th century French occasional table, marquetry, decorated to the top with trophies of war and fitted with three drawers to the cylindrical body, raised on three cabriole united by a low circular shelf with marquetry quill, pen, ink stand and open book. Diameter 15 ins, height 31 ins (see illustration).
An early Victorian mahogany secretaire bookcase, in two sections, the top half with a moulded cornice above a pair of glazed doors with wooden astragals enclosing adjustable shelves, the base with secreatire drawer well fitted with a series of cupboards, drawers and pigeonholes and with wooden knob handles above a pair of panelled cupboard doors enclosing drawers, a tray and shelf, flanked by turned columns and with plinth base. Tooley describes this and the following two lots as “amongst the most important of the illustrated travel books of their period”.
