A Pair of Rosewood Dwarf Bookcases, 2nd quarter 19th century, the campan green rectangular marble tops above acanthus carved scrolling supports and an adjustable shelf, 99cm by 36cm by 75cm Repair to back left corner and small section missing right corner. Both with minor fritting nibbles. Timber reasonable, consistent with age. Small losses to carved decoration. Veneer losses and losses and scuffs, particularly around platform bases. A French Louis XV/Transitional Style Ebonised and Gilt Metal Mounted Secretaire à Abattant, late 19th century, the grey and white carrara marble top above burrwood veneered and tulipwood banded mother-of-pearl drawers, the fall front enclosing a writing surface, two drawers and a shelf, 71cm by 35cm by 128cm Grey marble top chipped. Back left corner section repaired. Good quality gilt mounts. Bruising throughout the carcass and minor fine splits to the end panels. Damage around the drawer fronts, particularly beneath the fall front for the secretaire section. With key. Two escutcheons missing. 090713
A 19c Louis Phillipe style bonheur du jour or writing cabinet, ebonised and with amboyna panelling betwixt crossbanding and line inlay, with ormolu mounts and porcelain panels, the upper section with a mirrored arch flanked by two cupboards, all under gilt metal galleries, on a base fitted with a central pull out writing drawer with tooled leather lined writing surface, the table frieze with continual ormolu mounted circular porcelain foliate panels repeated to the central bosses on the turned and tapering parcel gilt front legs, having square rear legs cojoined by an undertier shaped shelf on a platform base, with pointed bun feet, 49"w, 59"h.

American Rococo Carved Rosewood Etagere An American Rococo Carved Rosewood Etagere, mid-19th c., Philadelphia, scrolled acanthus crest, shaped mirror plates, two demilune shelves and small center shelf, the serpentine base with violet brocatelle marble top, foliate skirt, two conforming shelves, cabochon carved scrolled legs, casters, height 76 1/2 in., width 53 in., depth 20 in Note: The proportions, use of violet brocatelle marble for the top, and the robust carved decoration of this étagère are indicative of a Philadelphia firm working in the Rococo mode such as Klauder and Deginther (active after 1847) or Gottlieb Vollmer (active c. 1859). Two Philadelphia center tables with related carvings and marbles to those seen here were sold by Neal Auction Company as lot 556, October 26, 1992 and lot 163 June 27, 2009.
