1970 Chateau de Sales, Pomerol 9x75cl Label and capsule damage.Deceased Estate of a Gentleman. I drank this wine a few Christmas's ago. I enjoyed it so much that it was awarded a rare spot on a shelf in my office of wines that I have loved. A chateau I hardly knew and at 50 years old ...my expectations were low, - drank on my own in front of the fire after everyone had gone home, it was a revelation. Beautifully mature and still very much alive. Soft, rich and elegant with a splash of Pomerol decadence. Mark Robertson

A Heal's limed oak wardrobe, 1930s, with a raised central section, the two doors with octagonal panelling and opening to a top shelf and hanging rail, flanked by two further doors, one enclosing a shelf and hanging rails, the other containing shelves, slides and drawers, all raised on a moulded platform and ball feet, 186cm wide 50cm deep184cm highCondition ReportWith one key. Fair overall. Used condition. The handle to the left centre door is loose and requires resetting. All doors and locks function correctly, with some movement in the handles. Present well with minor signs of old wood worm. Please see the additional images.
A Charles I oak livery cupboard, of architectural form, the upper section with central arched panel flanked by doors with lozenge carved panels and with projecting column supports above an open shelf with similar column supports, 127.5cm wide, 55cm deep, 122cm highOverall appearance good, general wear, knocks and splits commensurate with age. The roof board with repaired front corner (using original piece), shrinkage gap to roof board has been filled with a fillet. Later locks. One applied moulding to front of bottom shelf is missing. Feet original with pleasant level of wear. One column has replaced section of capital but is hardly noticeable.
A Charles I oak and parquetry dole cupboard, enclosed by a fruitwood spindle turned door and with conforming spindles to the sides, the door stamped with initials CF, 100cm wide, 30.5cm deep, 73.5cm highH W Keil December 2001Overall appearance good. Minor wear and knocks commensurate with age. Later escutcheon and lock. On the inside of the door, the cross-strut has suffered a small loss adjacent to the later lock. Inside, the bottom-board has twisted and bowed. The fixed shelf is also tristed. Both are patinated and appear original.
A William IV rosewood breakfront bookcase the central section fitted with adjustable shelves and flanked by cupboard drawers, 155cm wide, 40cm deep, 93.5cm highno visible warping to top, side cabinets contain later shelves and pegs for adjusting shelf height—interior depth to the centre 36cm, and Interior depth to the cabinets 27.5cm. Later brass mounts tarnished. Shelves scuffed and scratched, side shelves replaced and new. some checking to rosewood veneers. Some wear, scuffs and scratches all over commensurate with age and use
Joined oak dresser base, basically 18th century, matched low two shelf back, raised plate platform with three drawers, three drawers under, shaped apronpiece, on cabriole legs, much altered, length 183cm, depth 57cm, height overall 159cm.Condition report:Base with replaced back legs, repairs to drawer fronts, replaced handles/escutcheons. Old scaring to top boards. Colour rather flat. Rack a later match.
Regency mahogany chiffonier, in the manner of Gillows, raised back with gadrooned outlines, fitted with a single frieze drawer over two panelled doors, flanked by open shelf sections, with Doric style columns, width 140cm, depth 38cm, height 110cm.Condition report:Repairs and potential losses to the top of the back rail, top is good, some old splits to the flame veneer, old marks, drawer and roos are good, columns are good, I dont think they are the original feet. With a detached garage to one side, fitted with opening doors. Mounted on a wooden base. 110cm Overall width, height to top of chimney 70cm. 44cm depth. GC-VGC. £40-60
