George III mahogany knee hole desk, of small proportions, the moulded top above a long cock beaded drawer, flanked by two pedestals with a further three drawers with swan neck brass handles, central cupboard with key. The interior revealing one fitted shelf and standing on a projected base with bracket feet. 80 x 48 x 78cm approx. (B.P. 21% + VAT) Overall appearing in good condition for its age. Some minor marks and scratches to the top. Possible fading. All handles are present as are the inlaid escutcheons. Two keys present. Some splits to one side. General wear commensurate with age.
Victorian mahogany two stage break front book case, the moulded and shaped cornice above four dome shaped glazed doors, the interior revealing an arrangement of fitted shelves above a projecting base with four blind panelled doors. 150x60x225 cm approx. (B.P. 21% + VAT)Various scuffs/scratches and wear commensurate with age and use. Some water marks and other stains to interior. Some small cracks to sides of main drawer. One shelf in right hand cupboard has a large split. Generally sound and useable. No warping to the doors are shrinkage above the doors. It does separate for transportation. Interior depth to top middle cupboard: 32cm, bottom: 48cm, side cupboards; top: 24cm and bottom 39cm, all approx. 2 keys present.
Thomas (S) and Thomas (D), JOYCE OF WHITCHURCH, CLOCKMAKERS 1690-1965, a presentation first edition, 3/4 burgundy leather, marbled boards, inscribed and signed by the authors, Inbeat Publications, Chester 2013 CONDITION REPORT:The front board shows a dirt mark to the leather approximately 4.5cm below the top edge. The front edge of the block shows some marking. Shelf wear is minimal.
A bound collection of The Sun newspaper covering the period October 3rd to December 31st 1794, to include reports on the Treason Trials of November 1794, with The Times of January 26 1793, The English Mercurie (an 18th century hoax "newspaper" reporting the Spanish Armada), and four reprinted newspapers containing accounts of the execution of Guy Fawkes, the death of Oliver Cromwell, the plague and the great fire of London etc (Qty) (at fault) CONDITION REPORT:The Sun contains Wednesday 3rd October, then skips to Thursday 9th October and runs continuously with daily issues until 31st December (no issues for Sundays or December 25th). Some issues are bound out of order. The pages show some darkening, some small fox marks, some creases and some chips and shelf wear to the bottom edges. The front board is detached and the spine heavily worn and cracked, but the majority of issues are currently bound in securely.
A 17th century and later oak wall shelf, the central door carved with the initials 'I.M' and the year '1640' enclosed by a border of carved interlaced scrolls and flower heads, constructed within a later open bookcase, 86cm H x 83cm W x 18cm D Front panel and hinges appear to be 17th century, handle and surrounding shelves are later additions
A George III mahogany freestanding corner cupboard, the moulded dentil cornice above a blind fretwork frieze and a pair of cupboard doors opening to three shaped shelves, enclosed by canted and fluted corners, upon the base with conforming doors opening to a single shelf, 192cm H x 86cm W x 48cm D CONDITION REPORT:The cornice shows a loss to the top right edge and a slightly open joint on the left. Both friezes show some wear to the edges and the odd small dent. The fluted panels show similar wear and the odd split. Both top doors appear to be somewhat warped. Although flush at the hinged edges, the top left door stands proud approximately 1cm in the centre at the top when closed (unless secured by the catch) and the top right door stands proud approximately 1cm at the bottom centre when closed. The bottom doors are flush when closed.
