A good quality aesthetic period sideboard in mahogany, the lower section fitted with four carved and panelled doors and two frieze drawers, all with heavy cast and engraved brass fittings over an open lower shelf, the raised back incorporating two bevelled edge mirror plates and with further good quality carved detail, 2m wide x 190cm high
A MEIJI PERIOD JAPANESE EBONISED LACQUER CABINET rectangular, the top featuring a wood carved medallion with a foliate and floral motif accented by a geometric border, the handles and the corners accented with brass, the exterior side panels with carved wood hand painted dragons, the cabinet doors with traditional scenes moulded from handstone, the handles and hinges forged from brass, the interior a bright red, with one shelf and three small drawers with brass pulls, atop four square pegged feet with brass detailing, all against a ebonised and lacquer body accented with foliate and floral detailing; height: 76 cm (29 7/8 in.), dimensions of cabinet: 40 (w) x 64 (l) cm (15 3/4 x 25 1/4 in.) CONDITION The cabinet appears in age-appropriate condition. An abrasion to the right corner of the top. Overall light surface scuffs and scratches to the lacquer.
