EXW Watlington HS Code 970600 Weight approx 50KgsCondition reportThe general condition of this compact and attractive Bonheur du Jour is good. There is very slight worm damage to the base of the shelf. It looks long ago dealt with and does not compromise the piece. The main drawer may need a slight adjustment to regularly run smoothly. The mounts are all present and in good condition. There is some cracking to the ‘writing’ surface of the top. (See image) Legs are sound. Please note the two cabinets are currently locked. We do not have a key, but in my experience they are generally easy to open with a good locksmith. We do have a box of assorted old keys on site and will attempt to open them. One small piece of marquetry ‘bottle’ is missing on the top left corner
A Heals limed oak Cupboard, circa 1930's, with single frieze drawer above panelled cupboard door, labelled with circular Heals plaque, chipboard shelf added later, W 68cm x H 91cm x D 50cm. A vernacular Folk Art style set of oak hanging shelves; chip carved top above a hinged compartment carved in 17th century style with flowerheads within a running guilloché design, lower shelf below (45.5cm wide x 13cm deep x 21.5cm high)Condition Report: In the Auctioneer's opinion the item is from the 19th century (in 17th century style). The hinges have two pins at the top of the flap and are positioned at the end of the top (obscured). There is not sign of any deliberate aging to the piece and the carving is of very good quality and there is a probability that the back of the piece has been replaced at some stage (it appears much newer) as there are two redundant recesses.
