Height 115 cm.Structurally sound, legs and base firm with no concerns. Overall in good condition. Some nibbles to the veneers on the top left edge of the surface (illustrated). Marks and minor losses to the varnish above each handle. Two handles look like they have been reglued. Two small scuffs to the left door near the edge. Minor horizontal scuff running parallel to the bottom of the lower doors (illustrated- the auctioneer believe this would probably polish out). Interior generally very clean and tidy although the glass shelf does have two small chips.

Believed Edwards & Roberts - A stunning pair of antique 19th Century Victorian English amboyna and ebonised wood bonheur de jour writing desk / cabinets in the manner of Weisweiler, Pairs. Eah having upright breakfront backs with gilded ormolu mounted decoration throughout with one having a gilt gallery top with both adorned with gilt metal classical figures. The bases having hidden central drawers to the frieze with each having a rise and fall tooled royal blue leather writing skiver flanked by drawers to each side. Decorative blue Wedgwood cameo porcelain plaques throughout depicting classical figures. Each being raised on fluted and inverted supports with brass caubles atop. The mirrored back panel and lower shelf supported by turned legs with brass castors. Biggest measures approx 150cm x 122cm x 56cm.
