"15623 5396" to the rear right leg, the second chair stamped "Howard & Sons Ltd, Berners St" and No'd. "2678 D307" to the rear right leg, castors stamped "Howard & Sons Ltd London", 73.5 cm x 90 cm CONDITION REPORTS Chair with reading slope - reading slope top is warped. There is a large scratch running from one corner to approx 10 cm. There is a large scrape along the top edge. There are a couple of dark (possibly burn) marks to the top. The hinges appear to be replacements as they do not fit properly and there is a repair to the wooden shelf where the brass book support goes in on one side. The brass support handle has pitting and discolouration. The brass hole covers do not fit flush to the upholstery. The chair legs have knocks and dents, especially to the front legs and there are cracks in the tops. Brass caps have scrapes and pitting and discolouration. The screws appear to be replacements and have rusting. The second chair - legs are in similar condition. Both chairs have general wear and tear conducive with age and use.
