A large and impressive American walnut chimney piece with large and heavy cornice decorated with a dentil band, a carved frieze of figures and cherubs within acanthus leaves and fruiting vines, arched shelf below flanked by lead-glazed panels with a pair of panelled doors under, the mantel shelf and fire surround under; together with two large sections of panelling, each with a carved corinthian frieze and panels below, numerous other carved pieces of frieze and panels. Please find illustrated a watercolour drawing Artist's impression of the chimney piece before its closure in 1948. Please note that the main pieces have been superficially damaged by fire and smoke.
