Dahl (Roald) Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, first English edition, cut signature of the author on title, illustrations by Faith Jacques, small patch of abrasion to front free endpaper and pastedown, original pictorial boards, slight shelf-lean, very light sunning to spine, slight wear to spine ends with some pealing to laminate, a very good copy overall, 4to, 1967.
Dahl (Roald) Switch Bitch, signed presentation inscription from the author on front free endpaper, endpapers with very faint toning strip, original cloth, slight shelf-lean, ends very lightly faded, dust-jacket, spine head a little creased, still overall an excellent copy, 8vo, 1974.⁂ During the summer of 1974, one of Dahl's daughter's fell off a swing at Gypsy Cottage in Great Missenden and injured her wrist. Jon Walley, a local surgeon, was asked to see her as a private patient. After submitting an invoice for his usual fee, Walley was rather surprised to receive this signed book from Dahl, instead of a cheque as payment.

There is a small red mark to the top. The back right corner of the top has some damage and cracks. Degradation to paint throughout with craquelure and small losses, particuarly to the corners of the drawer front. Wear and scuffs to supports. Joints feel solid and stable. Ready for use. Ercol baby Giraffe bookshelf or trolley, three open shelvesd with turned spindles, on casters, 92x32cm, height 71cm.Condition report:The top surface has heavy wear with water damage and a heavy scratch extending across most of the top. There is also a white stain mark to the underside of the top shelf. The middle shelf is fairly clean. The bottom shelf has some lighter marks and wear but more kick marks to the edges. The uprights have some scratches and knocks. No significant splits to the wood. The casters run well.

Internally very good, well-preserved with general toning, very pale staining & marks in places, a few heavier marks, shaved close to page numbers in places, one short marginal nick to edge of title, binding tight & strong, slight shelf-lean, vellum very good with a nice colouration from age, the vellum would've originally had ties, bearing Ex Libris plate and pencil owner inscription of Michaelis Hadriani Young A scarce first edition of Blackwood's attack on the enemies of Mary, Queen of Scots. Blackwood visited Mary frequently during her imprisonment. After Mary's execution, he published this exposure of her treatment - a diatribe against Queen Elizabeth I

Octavo, publisher's captioned purple card covers, pp. 315. Very well-preserved, internally clean & bright, very faint creasing to spine, some very light wear to extremities, some very light handling marks to covers, slight shelf-lean, one pale mark on p. 299. An excellent example of this rare pre-publication proof. An unconfirmed figure of 50 copies is accepted for this first-state proof in purple wrappers; the second state was in green wrappers [Errington]
Rowling, J. K. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, true first edition, first issue [one of only 500], London: Bloomsbury, 1997. Of the 500 copies printed, 300 were issued to schools & libraries - this is a superb example of one of the even scarcer and more desirable 200 that were issued to booksellers. Octavo, hardback, publisher's original laminated pictorial boards. Complete with all requisite issue points, namely: full number line on copyright page, "10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1"; "1 wand" appearing twice on p.53; "Philosopher's" misspelled "Philospher's" on rear cover; "Wizardry and Witchcraft" [rather than "Witchcraft and Wizardry"] on rear cover; "Joanne Rowling" on copyright page; no space between "Taylor" and "1997" on copyright page. Internally very well-preserved, clean & bright; usual light toning to page edges; appears almost unread: no folded corners, no inscriptions, no foxing; a few very faint marginal marks in places, including lower gutters of title; original endpapers are good & bright with a star-shaped surface mark at corner of front pastedown; very slightly pulling at gutters of final page; binding very good, strong & unrestored with original laminated finish; slight fading/discolouration to spine; a few very faint scratches to laminate; light wear to extreme corners of boards & spine; very lightly bumped at edges of spine; a couple of very small, light bumps to edges of boards; very slight shelf-lean. Overall, very good indeed - a remarkably well-preserved example of the true first issue of the author's debut novel and first in the Harry Potter series. This is the origin of the best-selling book series in history. Very scarce
