Cotswold School Wall hanging shelves, similar to designs by Ernest Gimson oak, the central part divided into four with lattice back and chamfered central divider flanked by two cupboard doors, each opening to reveal a shelf 45.5cm high, 122cm across, 18cm deep. Provenance: Rachel Ward (nee Rothenstein) and Alan Ward; thence by family descent. Rachel Rothenstein was daughter of Sir William Rothenstein, and brother to Michael Rothenstein. The Rothenstein family had close connections to the Cotswold School of Artists and commissioned numerous pieces.

CONDITION REPORT: Extensive loss of edges of roses, right hand top sconce, leaves, cherub to the bottom, gilt rubbed, fritting and paint loss throughout.
A fine Regency rosewood veneered and crossbanded small writing table, at the back, an open recess for books, above this, a shelf, crossbanded and with gilt bronze pierced 3/4 gallery, the top folds open to reveal a velvet writing surface, beneath it, a single drawer with compartments including a concealed inkwell drawer, the whole stands on four ring turned tapering legs with brass casters, gilt bronze floral cast mounts, width 60.5cm., height 96.5cm.
