Lot 1459

An 18th century Dutch marquetry display cabinet, profusely inlaid throughout with flowers and birds, having a shaped pediment above glazed doors opening to reveal shaped fixed shelves, the base with three long serpentine shaped drawers with cast brass handles and escutcheons flanked by claw and ball feet to the front. 211 cm wide, 219 cm high, 37 cm deep (excluding centre corbal). CONDITION REPORT: The cabinet is in generally very good condition with no significant issues. The pediment and cornice are in good order all round with only very minor nibbles to the veneers. The same comments apply to the doors which are not warped and meet in the centre. There are some minor stress fractures to the veneers but no significant issues. The right hand side upper panel has a very small loss to the top left hand corner of the brass. The left hand panel has a stress fracture to the left hand upper corner above the half round glaze moulding. The left hand lower panel has a larger shrinkage split to the right hand side of the marquetry panel. The right hand lower panel is in generally good condition. All drawers are in good condition with no significant issues. The shaped apron to the base is in good order. The piece is structurally sound, there is no evidence of any woodworm. The interior shelves are loose and the shelf support brackets require re-fixing. The backboards would appear to be original. For a piece of this type the overall condition and colour is generally very good and the cabinet could be enjoyed in its current state without the need for any significant work other than the minor issue of the shelf brackets.

Lot 1501

An oak craftsman made coffee table, fitted with two frieze drawers and with magazine shelf beneath. Width 97 cm.

Lot 1586

An Edwardian inlaid mahogany bijouterie cabinet, rectangular, with glazed top and sides and raised on tapered legs of square section united by a raised centre shelf. Width 60 cm.

Lot 1613

An Edwardian walnut low bookcase, with rear pediment above a moulded dentil cornice and four drawers with glazed cupboard doors beneath enclosing shelves and raised on a plinth. Width 184 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The shelves are adjustable and could all be removed if necessary. The internal height of the bookcase is 86.5 cm, the internal depth to the shelf fronts is 28 cm. The left-hand doors open but the lock is fixed in the lock position. The right-hand doors are locked. We have what we believe to be the key but it is reticent in turning the lock mechanism. These are simple locks and the problem should be easily remedied. The bookcase is in reasonably good condition. There are no significant issues. The doors are not warped, all brass work is original. The colour is generally good. There are some minor blemishes and marks in places but no real problems. The rear upstand is detached. The top edge moulding has an old timber break however this simply needs fixing in place as there is no loss. There are some minor scuffs to the rear upstand and a very small loss to the top left-hand corner.

Lot 1756

A late Victorian walnut dressing table, with mirror to the superstructure and fitted with a series of drawers and low shelf to the base and raised on castors. Width 122 cm.

The top is flat with no significant warping. The centre rectangular panel has slightly shrunk away from one moulded edge and there is a gap between the edge moulding and this panel on one side. All shelves are in good condition and all shelf supports are present. The swivel mechanism operates as it should and the legs are all in good order. There is no evidence of any woodworm. The colour is fairly consistent throughout with only slight fading to the rear of the top. The polish is generally good, again with only minor marks to the top surface as one would probably expect.

Lot 1827

An oak circular cricket type table, with angled supports and shelf. diameter 52 cm.

The mirror is in good order with no perishing. The right hand corner of the bottom shelf at ground level has a small old loss to the right hand edge. Other than this the piece is in extremely good order and it could be used in its current state without the need for any work.

Width 188 cm, height 201 cm, depth 50 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This cabinet is George III and probably dates from circa 1780-1800.

Lot 1989

A large walnut Queen Anne style rectangular coffee table, fitted with three drawers to either side with brass drop handles, cockbeading and crossbanded drawer fronts, raised on legs of square section terminating in spade feet and united by a raised low shelf. Length 152 cm, width 91 cm, height 44 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The coffee table is in generally very good condition. The top is flat and of good colour and has no issues. The points on the corners of the table top are all a little rubbed but again not significantly. The left hand bottom return moulding is slightly loose but this would be easily remedied. The right hand side return moulding has a couple of minor scuffs but again these are almost insignificant. The table is really in very good order.

Lot 1992

A William IV walnut revolving book table, with circular top and spindle gallery to the lower tier. Height 70 cm, diameter of top 40.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The table is in generally very good condition. The top tier is in good order with no issues. The turned column beneath is also in good order. The rotating shelf below does not have any issues. There is no warping. The turned column beneath the lower shelf is in good order as is the triform base. One bun foot has minor traces of old long gone woodworm. The castors are original. The only minor issue with the piece is that the spindled gallery has been repainted in places and several of the spindles have been refixed. The gilt edge to the revolving tier has been overpainted in places also. All remaining gilding is original but as one would expect considerably rubbed.

Lot 2031

A Victorian walnut veneered credenza, the well figured top with applied gilt metal beading in turn above a well figured and cross banded frieze and cupboard doors, each with French porcelain pastoral panels within gilt metal frames flanked by convex glazed doors, all between fluted columns with gilt metal Corinthian capitals and all above a plinth base with a gilt metal bell flower and bead mount. 200 cm wide, 107 cm high, 53 cm deep (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The credenza is in generally good original unrestored condition. The top whilst flat does have numerous old stress fractures to the veneers, particularly along the front edge. All of this is old and there is nothing currently lifting. The top moulded edge is in good order all round and all beading is present. The frieze beneath is in good condition all round with no veneer losses and no lifting. The panelled doors are not warped. They are of good colour with no significant veneer losses or lifting. All porcelain panels are in good order. We have the lock and a key. The lock does however not operate. The key may well not be original. The door is not locked. The side doors are both in good order and we have the original key. Both locks operate. The doors are not warped. All metalwork is present but a little tarnished. The centre shelf is missing its cloth covering as are the two lower left hand shelves. The velvet covering to the others is significantly faded and the condition is poor. The plinth base is in structurally fairly good condition all round with only minor nibbles and marks to the veneers. The right hand rear semicircular corner block is loose. We can see no evidence of any woodworm. The backboards are original and in good order.
