Nosotti - an English giltwood and gesso pier mirror with shaped multi-plate top the frame finely carved overall with scrolls, flower heads and shells, two pairs of ormolu scrolling leafy branches with conforming nozzles and drip pans, the base with serpentine-shaped velvet covered shelf with cabochon carved border above scrolling bracket, bearing applied C. Nosotti label verso, 220cm high, 92cm wide max., Circa 1850 Charles Nosotti, 398 and 399 Oxford Street, London, originally came from Milan and was primarily a carver and gilder, and his firm known as a looking glass manufactory. Records show he had settled in Westminster as early as 1831.
