An Edwardian lady's desk, the superstructure with a tambour front, above a foldover top decorated trophies and scrolling acanthus leaves, 76 cm wide See illustration Condition report Report by RB Overall in good condition, having been in the vendor's family for at least 60 years. General wear and knocks as you would expect with a piece of furniture of this age, cup ring stain mark to the top of the super structure back left hand side, frieze drawer pulled out to release the tambour, and works well, the inside is much darker in colour, as you would expect, and the leather looks original, but is in poor condition having been rubbed and ink stained, the shelf to the bottom has been repaired where it meets the front legs and also to the rear left leg where a large section has been repaired, broken by the vendor about 60 years ago!
A Ross of Dublin walnut campaign chiffonier, the top veneered in maple, with a Ross & Co brass plaque and Ross & Co paper label, 104 cm wide See illustration Condition report Report by RB The left hand turn support to the super structure is broken where it meets the upper horizontal shelf, the top has four segments of birds eye maple veneer, which is split and lifting a little, and a few holes too, the right hand door has the Ross brass inlaid plaque, and with the paper label applied below to the inside panel, no key, otherwise generally good as you would expect for a piece of Victorian furniture of this age. The sides are pine, with metal inserts.
