Harbou (Thea von) Metropolis. Roman Prelozila Marie Dolejsi, first Czech edition, black and white photographic illustrations, lightly browned throughout, original pictorial cloth, gilt lettering to spine a touch faded, light sunning to spine and extremities, spine ends and corners very lightly rubbed, slight shelf-lean, still an excellent copy, 8vo, Prague, 1927.⁂ This is the only edition which is illustrated with 66 still frames from the 1927 film directed by Harbou's husband, Fritz Lamb.

A Memoir, portrait frontispieces, four photographic plates, occasional faint spotting, endpapers browned, original buckram-backed boards, printed paper label to upper cover, light browning to spine and portion of boards, a few patches of soiling, very slight shelf-lean, Oxford, 1919, first editions, 8vo & 4to (2)⁂ The first mentioned an autobiographical account of the War from a female perspective, in which De L'Isle remembers her time at an English military hospital and later a Red Cross hospital. The second mentioned is the memoir of Evelyn Southwell and Malcolm White, fellow teachers at Shrewsbury School and correspondents from the trenches. Both died at the Somme.
