It was subsequently bought in 1943 by Richard Papelien, an engineer and celebrated figure in the automotive industry.The house was constructed with brick and concrete, and the three lots for sale here are believed to have been designed and made specifically for the building.Marcel Breuer briefly studied art in Vienna before joining the Bauhaus in the 1920s. First a student and then a teacher, he became head of the celebrated furniture workshop. On leaving the Bauhaus, Breuer practised as an architect in Berlin before fleeing the Nazi regime and moving to London in 1935, where he stayed for two years. In 1939, he was invited by Walter Gropius (the founder of the Bauhaus and former teacher of Breuer) to work at Harvard University.Condition ReportAll pieces need restoration - losses to the veneers. RHF Royal Heritage Sideboard - Elliotts of Newbury - EON - an original retro vintage 1960s teak wood sideboard credenza comprising three drawers above a central fall front cocktail cabinet flanked by a single cupboard to each side. One drawer fitted with cutlery compartment and shelves to each section. Cutlery drawer divider loose put present and one shelf peg missing. Top has been lacquered and some wear commensurate with age. Measures approx; 76cm x 168cm x 45cm.
