A Rare 15th Century Gothic Oak Livery Cupboard. The top section having two doors carved with twin scrolls and a diagonal cross motif. The central panel carved with a recessed Gothic tracery archway. The lower section having a linenfold panelled back above a planked shelf. Raised on block feet 53 ins (135 cms) high, 45 ins (115 cms) wide, 16 ins (40 cms) deep.*
A Splendid 17th Century & Later Associated Three-part Vargueno Cabinet. The whole decorated throughout with ebony inlaid banding and applied geometric carved appliqués. The ventilated top cupboard having a dentil moulded & beaded cornice above turned spindle doors & sides; enclosing a single shelf. The central vargueno having drop front door with an ornamental pierced iron lock-plate above a similarly inlaid cartouche. The interior fitted with variously sized drawers and compartments; each intricately inlaid with box wood & ebony geometric & C-scroll motifs. The lower section incorporating a long drawer above two cupboard doors with conforming inlay and raised on later bun feet. 76 ins (194 cms) in height, 40 ins (102 cms) in width, 17 ins (43 cms) in depth.
An Unusual 17th Century Carved Oak Three-part Buffet with secret cupboard. The twin planked top above a frieze compartment with guilloche carving to the top rail and three front panels of carved foliated lunettes divided by palmate `corbels`. The side panels forming the cupboard doors; the left door secured by a an interior catch; the right one having a lock with one of the corbels sliding back to reveal the keyhole. The cupboard raised on carved cup & cover front posts and plain stiles to the rear leading down to a mid shelf with nulled rails and a base shelf with marquetried rails of chevron bands, 44 ins (112 cms) high, 49½ ins (126 cms) wide, 18 ins (46 cms) deep.
A Fine & Rare Late 16th Century Canopied Oak Cupboard of rich colour & patination. The angled canopy top with a moulded and arcaded frieze adjoining a twin panelled back. The middle section having double baluster ring-turned posts and a recessed cupboard with a central panelled door hung on long shaped iron strap hinges. The lower enclosed shelf fronted by similarly turned columns, raised on block feet 72 ins (183 cms) in height, 32½ ins (82.5 cms) in width, 40 ins (16 cms) in depth.
A 17th Century Oak Credence Table. The fold-over top resting upon a swing out gate. The canted form having frieze panels and a central drawer adorned with moulded appliqués and strap-work arabesques, divided by protruding scroll blocks. The pierced arch aprons ornamented with moulded appliqués on ring turned columnar legs above a base shelf, raised on block feet measuring 32½ ins (82 cms) high, 42 ins (107 cms) wide, 41 ins (105 cms) depth.
