A FINE 1:48 SCALE FULLY RIGGED, PLANKED AND FRAMED STATIC DISPLAY MODEL OF THE MINERVE OF CIRCA 1780 modelled by Charles d`Clinton from plans supplied by Jean Boudriot, with fully framed half-planked and pinned hull, warrior form figurehead of Minerva, finely carved transom and court galleries, half-planked decks revealing internal framing and complete with capstan, companionways, fully fitted ship`s boats lashed within well deck, bound masts, yards with s`tuns`l booms, standing and running rigging and other fine detailing, contained within brass-bound glazed case (stern panel broken) on inlaid table stand with brass plaque and fragment of oak from H.M.S. Victory and book shelf suspended under, model measurements — 34 x 46in. (86.5 x 117cm.); overall measurements including stand — 70 x 56½ x 29in. (178 x 143.5 x 74cm.); notes and historical data of the making of this model This model was the subject of two lengthy articles in issue numbers 67 and 68 of The Model Shipwright, both of which are included in this lot.
