Arts and Crafts copper hanging wall sconce circa 1900, the back with a convex reflector and shaped edge and candle bracket, height 26cm. Condition report: the shelf is made of two soldered thicknesses of copper which have been later reinforced with glue; some minor edge dents and general wear.
A Charles I joined oak press cupboard inn two halves, with fruitwood parquetry inlay, the frieze with applied bearded male masks above leaf carved Ionic columns with two cupboard doors with chevron inlay with a conforming base with two doors enclosing a shelf, with panelled sides, 158.1cm high, 152.3cm wide, 54.5cm deep. Provenance: The Old Rectory, Little Langford, Wiltshire. Sold by order of Trustees of the Estate of the late Miss S.F. Rooke.
A Louis XV style kingwood bonheur du jour, with ormolu mounts and Sevres style porcelain plaques, with a pair of cupboard doors enclosing a shelf above two drawers one with divisions above a frieze drawer fitted with a plush lined writing surface and with compartments, on cabriole legs, last quarter 19th century, 142.7cm high, 73.5cm wide, 52.3cm deep.
A late 19th century Italian carved and stained wood tripod basin by Vincenzo Cadorin, the shell bowl with a circular aperture and plaster interior, supported by two mermaids and a merman, united by a triform stretcher shelf on scroll legs to leaf and talon feet, signed `V. CADORIN : VENEZIA`, 36½in (92.6cm) high, 28½in (72.5cm) wide, 26in (66cm) deep. Vincenzo Cadorin (1854 - 1925) sculptor and eboniste, was trained in the studio of Augusto Benvenuti and then studied at the Venetian Academy. He worked near Dresden in 1886 as cabinet maker for the Queen of Saxony. See Christopher Payne, 19th Century European Furniture, p.434, pl.1284 for an almost identical table.
