These names possibly relate to Marthinus Theunissen, an official in the service of the Dutch East India Company, who served at the outpost Soetmelkvlei in the district of Caledon, and Conrad Greeve (called Gräbe in the death register of Swellendam), a joiner, resident in 1800 at Warmbath, Caledon. A Regency rosewood chiffonier, the raised shelf supported by gilt brass columns, 137cm wide CONDITION REPORT: 37cm shelf depth to interior, key present. Light warping to right door lower left. Silk backing spotted and faded. Brass uprights appear shiny and possibly lacquered or re-gilt. Mirror plate later. Base faded a little more than the remainder of the veneer. Some old veneer replacements / repairs to edge-banding.
