A pair of mid Victorian amboyna, ebony and gilt metal mounted display cabinets - the upper section with arched glazed panel doors enclosing a shelf and flanked by columns, on a concaved moulded support, the lower section with glazed panel door enclosing shelves also flanked by columns with turned pointed finials, on a plinth base, 90 x 175 x 39cm.

A Regency mahogany bow front pedestal sideboard, c.1810, the shaped and reeded swan-necked back with raised finial centre, the figured mahogany top with a rounded edge and two mahogany plate rests, deep six-bottle cellaret drawer at each end, and a long central drawer above a recessed concave front disguised drawer, the tapering cupboards with ebony line inlay enclosing a single loose shelf, four claw feet to the front, 161 x 62 x 130cms high.PROVENANCE: The Graham Smith Retirement Auction - 50 years in the Antiques Trade.

A George III mahogany secretaire cabinet on chest, the upper section with oval panel doors opening to reveal single adjustable shelf, the secretaire chest below with a fall front enclosing a fitted interior with a gilt tooled writing surface, an arrangement of six drawers and four pigeonholes, over three graduated drawers all fitted with brass ring handles, over a shaped apron and raised on out swept feet, 78 x 44 x 156.5cms high.

A Victorian burr-walnut breakfront side cabinet, the three central shelves flanked by cupboard doors mounted with Sevres style plaques depicting portraits of females and floral sprays, the centre with mirror back below a single shelf with central Sèvres style porcelain plaque depicting a floral spray, reeded ebonised columns to each side, raised on plinth base with turned feet, 170 x 40 x 140cms.

A modular Ladderax display cabinet, the upper section having two glazed panelled doors and four adjustable glass shelves and the lower with three long drawers. Overall width 94cm, height 201cm, depth 42cm.Generally good condition, but one glass shelf is chipped to one long edge and some small veneer damage to the drawer unit.
Lot 2035
A vintage French oak two-section tambour-front notaire cabinet, the upper section having eighteen fall-front compartments, the lower being shelf fitted. Width 130cm, height 205cm, depth 46cm. Upper tambour A/F. Generally good but clearly used condition with surface marks and scratches complimenting it's vintage appearance. The upper tambour front has it's last piece detached from the remainder of the door and engaged in the lock, which does not appear to work with the key that opens the lower section. The top of the lower section is slightly loose, and one side of the front tambour-retaining rail is detached, though neither of these flaws are visible when assembled or affect use.

An early 20th century French walnut armoire with two mirrored doors and adjustable shelf-fitted interior. Width 140cm, height 243cm, depth 55cmSome use-related marks and scratches. This lacks bolts and is held together with screws. The mirrors make this somewhat front heavy so we have chosen to leave the doors off for display. Slight bow to side panels. Some shelf supports have been screwed into place.

A French oak bookcase, with three glazed doors and four adjustable shelves (lacking supports). Width 182cm, height 213cm, depth 50cm.This piece slots together, formed of two sides, a baseboard, two backboards, cornice and three doors. Some worm damage and a split to baseboard. The shelf supports are missing, but these are relatively easy to make as they are just blocks of wood to fit into a slot.

An early 20th century mahogany Globe-Wernicke style five shelf sectional stacking bookcase in seven sections. Overall width 87cm, height 183cm, depth 32cm.Good used condition with some marks and scratches. No maker's labels. Variation in colour suggests the base may not originally have been from this bookcase.

A 17th century and later panelled oak larder cupboard, with two doors revealing a shelf fitted interior with lifting lid covering another compartment to base, the exterior with chip carved decoration and raised on stile legs. Width 178cm, height 188cm, depth 65cm.In our opinion this piece is formed from pieces of other furniture. Some signs of worm, and scratches, possibly from cat, to one side. handle to raise interior lid is absent. Cornice appears much newer than the rest.

ROWLING, J. K. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, FIRST EDITION, FIRST ISSUE, hardback [one of only 500], London: Bloomsbury, 1997. Of the 500 hardbacks printed, around 300 were issued to schools & libraries - this being one of the even scarcer and more desirable 200 that were issued to booksellers. Octavo, hardback, publisher's original laminated pictorial boards. Complete with all requisite issue points denoting a TRUE FIRST PRINTING, namely: full number line on copyright page, "10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1"; "1 wand" appearing twice on p.53; "Philosopher's" misspelled "Philospher's" on rear cover; "Wizardry and Witchcraft" [rather than "Witchcraft and Wizardry"] on rear cover; "Joanne Rowling" on copyright page; no space between "Taylor" and "1997" on copyright page. A good example with bold boards, some very light surface scratches to laminate, tiny areas of loss to laminate in places, some discolouration to spine, light bumping & wear to corners and extremities, shelf-lean, contents mostly very good with usual toning/browning to page edges, spillage marks affecting pp.33-46, no inscriptions or stamps, some lightly folded corners, a few light marks in places, but overall a good example of this very scarce first issue.
