An 18c figured walnut veneered kneehole desk of rectangular form, the upper section with moulded edge and shaped corners, over a pull out fitted secretaire with fall front on three drawer pedestals, all crossbanded, flanking a central kneehole with recessed cupboard and pull out shelf, supported on compressed bun feet, 33.5w, 30.5h.
A Victorian bamboo and Chinoiserie lacquered side cabinet, with glazed cupboard, open shelf and splayed feet. Width 73 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Height 202 cm, width 73 cm, depth 33.5 cm. There are some splits to the uppercase back panel and some light surface scratches. The lacquer is in good order. There is a single ¾ length split to the lower glazed cabinet backing. It does appear to have a slight lean to the right. The left hand outer side panel has a full length scuff line.
A late Victorian mahogany breakfront low bookcase, with rounded corners and raised on bracket feet. Width 140 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Height 77 cm, depth at centre 38 cm, depth at sides 33 cm. The bookcase is in generally good condition. It looks as if this bookcase has had some form of gallery or superstructure. There are old dowelled repairs to the left and right hand corners and other surface marks indicating that this may have had some form of top. The piece is structurally sound with no splits to either the top or sides. The bracket feet are in good order and are original. There is one adjustable shelf to each section. The backboards are original.
A pair of rosewood bedside cabinets, with moulded edge, shelf, single door and raised on bun feet. Width 34 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The cabinets are in generally good condition. The right hand cabinet has an old stress fracture to the rosewood top. This runs from the right hand edge for approximately 7 inches. It is not open or raised. The door has a small surface scratch at the top right hand corner. The sides and door are in good condition as are the feet. The left hand cabinet is in extremely good order with no issues at all.
A Victorian walnut and ebonised music Canterbury, with brass gallery, turned columns, fall front cupboard and short turned legs with original castors. Width 59 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The fretwork gallery is in good condition with no losses. All four finials are present. The rear left finial is a little loose. The marquetry top is in generally good order with only minor old marks. The fretwork divisions and gallery to the middle shelf are all in good order as are the twist turned columns. The drawer is in good condition. All legs are original as are the castors. We can see no evidence of any woodwork.
A Chinese hardwood side table, rectangular, with intricate supports and low shelf. Length 76 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The table top is in good condition with no cracks and only minor old marks as one would expect. The panel has slightly shrunk and there is a small gap to one corner next to the frame. The outer frame is in good condition with one very small stress fracture to one corner. The frieze is in good condition all round. All corner mortise and tenon joints are visible which is part of the construction. All legs and supports are in good order with no visible repairs or restorations. Width 76.5 cm, height 74 cm, depth 44.5 cm.
A Victorian walnut marquetry Canterbury, with fretwork gallery, foliate marquetry top, three divisions and raised on short turned legs. Width 61 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The brass gallery is loose. The top is generally flat with only very minor scratches and old marks. The moulded edge is in good condition all round. The four turned supports and middle shelf are in good order. The door closes as it should. It is very slightly warped but not enough to be problematic. There are some minor nibbles to the ebony finish just below the fall front door. The legs are all original and have the original castors. We can see no evidence of any woodworm.
An Edwardian inlaid mahogany standing corner cupboard, with swans neck pediment above a pair of glazed doors enclosing shelves, the base fitted with a further pair of glazed doors and all raised on short cabriole legs. Width 71.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Height 209 cm. The cabinet is in generally good order. The swans neck pediment and cornice have no issues. The frieze beneath is in good condition also. The doors close as they should and we have the key. There is a slight warp at the bottom of the right hand upper door. This could be significantly improved as the closing mechanism of the lock keeper is worn on the left hand door. There is no broken glass. The lower doors are in good order with no warping. The lock escutcheon is missing. The internal shelves are all loose and the shelf supports require attention. The cabriole legs are original and in good order. There is no evidence of any worm.
A Japanese hardwood and gold lacquer three-tier shaped vertu shelf, the rectangular back with bursting ripe fruits, jardiniere of flowers, cherry blossom and a landscape, raden butterfly and flowerheads, meandering scroll cresting, sides and apron, each folding plateaux with shaped supports, 81cm high, Meiji period; a Chinese table lamp, silk pagoda-type shade, dragon support, circular hardwood base, cabriole legs, 69cm high, c. 1925 (2)
