An early Victorian figured rosewood three-bay open bookcase with lotus flower and harebell applied carvings and housing six adjustable shelves with shaped crimson dust baffles. on a simple plinth base. 188.5 overall width x 45.5 cm overall depth x 95 cm overall height.The central bay has an extra non-original shelf not mentioned in the description.The top shows the marks of ageThe plinth has some veneer losses to the edges near the mitres and the bottom edgeThe right-hand side of the carcass has a bobble in the veneerThe back panels have had eleven holes drilled/cut in them to allow media equipment cables to pass through.I am unsure if the bookcase has a full complement of shelf stays.

Stephen Webb worked for Collinson and Lock of Fleet Street and Oxford Street, and similar work was exhibited by Lock and Webb at the Arts and Crafts Exhibition in 1890. A GEORGE III MAHOGANY CABINET BOOKCASE CIRCA 1780 approximately 205cm high, 95cm wideCondition Report: There are some marks, scratches, knocks, chips, splits and abrasions consistent with age and use.This bookcase late 18th century with adaptations.There are losses and restorations and observations including metal nails to one side at shelf level; four screws fixing each escutcheon; missing some dentil sections to the cornice; there is evidence of worm visible including to the cornice and the feet; some knocks, cracks and missing veneers to the cornice; later amendments including the interior of the top section later lined with pegs to the sides for adjustable shelves; later backboards; later backboards; there is a key but it doesn't operate the lock which is open; Please refer to the additional photographs as a visual reference of condition. A GEORGE III SATINWOOD COMMODE SHERATON PERIOD, C.1790 inlaid with stringing and purple heart panels, with a pair of bowfront panelled doors inset with painted panels of flowers, enclosing a shelf, on square tapering legs and spade feet 91.5cm high, 83.7cm wide, 41.5 deep Provenance The collection of Admiral John Jervis Tucker, of Trematon Castle, Cornwall, sold at Christie's on 3rd February, 1888, lot 153, when purchased by the current vendor's great grandmother. Catalogue Note A commode with very similar painted panels is in the Victoria and Albert Museum, no.636:1 to :22-1870 and is illustrated on the front cover of Ralph Fastnedge, Sheraton Furniture.

A FRENCH LOUIS XVI KINGWOOD AND MARQUETRY SECRETAIRE ABATTANT BY FRANCOIS BAYER, C.1780 with ormolu mounts and inlaid with various woods, including: purpleheart and fruitwoods, with lattice work, panels of ribbon tied musical trophies and an urn, the grey marble moulded edge top above a frieze drawer and a hinged fall, revealing an interior fitted with six drawers and a later gilt tooled leather writing surface, the base with a pair of cupboard doors, enclosing a shelf 138.3cm high, 95.3cm wide, 38.5cm deep Provenance Redlynch House, Salisbury, Wiltshire. Catalogue Note Francois Bayer was made maitre on the 5th December 1764. See the Victoria and Albert Museum, Accession Number 1065:1 to 3-1882 for a marquetry table by Bayer.
