Arts and Crafts Woolley and Wallis Auctioneers, 17th June 2015 lot 226, for I Giorni a cabinet set with embroidered panels thought to be worked by his wife Mary Francis Crane. Provenance The Victorian Society Catalogue notes When Crane began work for Jeffrey & Company he also became associated with the Royal School of Art Needlework. The school was home to an 'art' industry of secular needlework employing over 100 workers in 1875. Walter Crane's wife was also a keen embroiderer.

Literature Daryl Bennett Liberty's Furniture 1875-1915 The Birth of Modern Interior Design, ACC, page 179 for similar examples illustrated in the Yule Tide Gifts catalogue, 1901. The wall brackets were also available with prints by Cecil Aldin and John Hassall.
