Midland Railway brass Signal Box Shelf Plates, a pair of significant importance. The first is `BATH STATION` and the second is `BATH JUNCTION`. From the ex Somerset & Dorset terminus, one plate must have originated from Bath Station Signal Box, the other from Bath Junction Signal Box. Although well polished, these are of significant importance to the S&D history. Also with this lot is an traffolite plate `Down Block Lawrence Hill` and a brass Instrument Plate No 49.
An early George III oak dresser base possibly Anglesey, with a raised back with four spice drawers over a moulded top and three frieze drawers with the original brasses, over an unusual pierced trellis apron, raised on three slender baluster turned front supports and two square rear supports, united by a panelled shelf with shallow back, on five stile feet, 56in. (142cm.) wide, 35½in. (90cm.) high, 16½in. (42cm.) deep, fitted with a matched oak plate rack, with a stepped cornice over two pine and oak shelves within wavy carved uprights, overall height 78½in. A George III mahogany glazed corner display cupboard of imposing proportions, the flared moulded cornice over a pair of fifteen pane astragal glazed doors enclosing a green painted interior with three shaped shelves, over a cupboard base with fielded panelled doors, enclosing a conforming green interior with single shaped shelf, raised on bracket feet, 86in. A tall teak cabinet in Art Deco inspired design, by David Bristow of Sedley Place Design, London, the upper section with an exaggerated cornice over a pair of coloured leaded glazed doors, separated from the base by a wide shelf. Below this, a tier of five central drawers flanked by coloured leaded glass doors, the whole with silver plated bar handles with flared ends, width 240cm, height 200cm. (See illustration)
