dating: Second half of the 18th Century provenance: France, Smoothbore, three-stage, octagonal, faceted and round, 15.4 mm cal. barrel, with floral engravings, with foresight. Engraved tang. Lock with small rocaille engravings and signature 'Coignet Le Lionnais'. Full wooden stock (a small block is missing). Iron mounts. Iron-tipped wooden ramrod. See a very similar mod. 1763 cavalry officer gun in our auction no. 105 (lot 672), with the same signature (not clearly legible) 'Coignet Le Lionnais', marked on the barrel 'Chevaux Lege', from the R. Brooker collection. It is very likely that this is an off-the-shelf version of this gun produced by the same manufacturer. length 36,5 cm.

A fantasia on the theme of Blackmail and Sudden Death, first edition, original cloth, slight shelf-lean, light fading to spine, extremities a little rubbed, 8vo, 1937.⁂ A scarce book by the writer and director Greenwood, notable for its printed dedication to Alfred Hitchcock. Greenwood collaborated with Hitchcock on a number of films, including Young and Innocent, The Man Who Knew Too Much and Jamaica Inn (the last as an actor).
