This the issue priced at xiiii. d. on U4 recto although altered by hand to xii. d.Provenance: John Chambre (1470-1549, fellow and warden of Merton College and physician to Henry VII & VIII); Thomas Newton (possibly the poet, physician and divine 1542-1607), ink inscriptions.

An early 19th century Dutch walnut and marquetry cabinet on stand, the upper section with twin doors featuring further marquetry to reverse enclosing repainted and mirrored interior with two modern shelves above slide drawer, the lower section with single drawer on stretchered barley twist supports to bun feet, 185 x 135 x 53.5cm.Additional InformationAreas of damage, losses and repairs to marquetry, most prominently to the doors including the based upon which the vases of flowers stand but present throughout, further chips and losses to veneer throughout, stretcher with crazing, further chips and some splits, in general quite heavy wear throughout to exterior. Interior has been recently repainted and mirrored with the addition of two shelf brackets and shelves, interior marquetry in similar condition to exterior with chips, losses and pronounced scratches. Overall in need of attention and restoration.
A late 17th century oak court cupboard, the upper section with twin cupboard doors above a base of twin panelled cupboard doors, raised on stile supports, width 139cm.Additional InformationAs you can imagine with a piece of this age, there have been alterations over the years and repairs. Some sections of the timber missing, noticeably to cupboard door fronts, plug marks where handles have been changed, missing parts of the shelf. Signs of heavy wear around the lower portion of the piece, splits to the doors and a split to the platformed upper section.
