A large oak cupboard of architectural form, Late Victorian, late 19th/early 20th century oak, with stop fluted terminals and foliate carved motifs the upper section with four panel doors enclosing adjustable shelves, the lower section with four frieze drawers and the central pair of doors enclosing a void interior, the pair of flanking doors each enclosing a fixed shelf h.273cm., w.315cm., d.64cm. Provenance by repute this impressive cupboard was one of a pair and formed part of a commission by Charles Vane, Sixth Marquis of Londonderry for Wynyard Hall, County Durham. In 1911 the piece was purchased by the Parker family of Lanchester, County Durham and thence by descent to the current vendor.
