A 19th Century French burr walnut secretaire à abattant, the grey veined marble top with moulded edge over a cushion drawer (locked) and fall front enclosing a birdseye maple veneered interior with single drawer over a recess and bank of five drawers, over two cupboard doors enclosing a shelf and deep drawer, raised on bracket feet, 97 cm wide x 45 cm deep x 148.5 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Areas of moulding have come away and been refitted badly. Unable to get into the top drawer. Escutcheon plates missing throughout. There are two holes just below the fall front lock, one of which has been filled. Fading etc throughout. Some areas of veneer missing throughout. Signs of old insect damage/worm, particularly to the feet/bottom section of the piece. There is some patching in areas. Some of the burr walnut has cracked. The middle bar has areas of wood missing and some repairs. Various staining, fading, ink marks and discolouration. There is some filling to the top drawer in two points. The leather is replacement.
