λ A Dutch rosewood and ebony Baroque cabinet on stand or luiermanskastje, with ripple mouldings, the detachable cornice with a central panel carved with swags of flowers, above a pair of panelled doors, flanked by three Corinthian capital pilasters, the central one sliding to reveal a key escutcheon, enclosing a shelf, above a frieze drawer with carved lion's head masks with brass ring handles, the stand fitted with a drawer and with blind fret strapwork decoration, on cup and cover turned supports united by a stretcher and on ebonised ball feet, 17th century, 201.7cm high, 142cm wide, 59.8cm deep.

A George III mahogany breakfront library bookcase, in the manner of Thomas Chippendale,the ogee moulded cornice above a Greek key and drop pendant carved cornice, a pair of Gothic arched glazed astragal doors enclosing three adjustable shelves, flanked by two doors enclosing adjustable shelves, the projecting base with a pair of moulded panelled doors, rosettes at each corner, enclosing a shelf flanked by four drawers on either side, on a moulded plinth, 247cm wide, 55cm deep, 248cm high., later wired for lighting. Illustrated.Provenance: Apter-Fredericks Ltd., 265-267 Fulham Road, London, 1 December 1994.·The diamond pattern pattern glazing bars echo those on a pattern by Thomas Chippendale, published in The Gentleman and Cabinet-Maker's Director, 1762, p. 49.
Of Nelson Interest: A white painted and gesso fireplace, 19th century, the rectangular mantel shelf above a frieze centred by the coat of arms of Horatio Viscount Nelson, flanked by battle honours, the reeded surround headed by oak leaves and acorns, 121cm wide, 129cm high.Illustrated.Provenance: Believed to have been purchased by a W D Smallpiece of Queen Annes Gate ,London, circa 1890, from a London dealer (see accompanying letter), and thence by descent.
