An Art Deco three tier mahogany bookcase, with leaded glass doors. Height 149 cm, width 89 cm, depth 23 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The bookcase is structurally sound and in generally good order. The top has some minor surface scratches and two old ring marks but no real issues. The sides of the bookcase are all in good order. There are no cracked panes of glass. The front right hand rear return on the bottom edge of the foot has had a fracture but the section of mahogany is glued into place. The doors are not warped and all close as they should. The shelf surfaces all have scratches and marks as one might expect. The backboards are original.
An Edwardian oak pedestal desk by Maple & Co, the superstructure fitted with two drawers and spindle turned back. Height 100 cm, width 125 cm, depth 69 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The raised back has marks and stains throughout but overall is in sound condition. There are some edge knocks to the central shelf but overall it is generally good. The T-shaped inset skiver has been replaced with a vinyl type leather effect material and this material is lifting to the edges and corners with some small losses. The top has some marks, stains, and scratches but overall generally good. The drawer fronts again are in good condition with some wear above the backplates. Each drawer retains the original locking mechanism, the drawer interiors do have some staining, the sides panels are again generally good, the pedestal back panels have some splitting but overall this desk is in good condition and would benefit from some feeding and polishing and a replacement skiver.
An early Victorian figured mahogany waterfall bookcase, with low gallery fitted single drawer on turned legs and castors. 160 cm high, 92 cm wide, 30 cm deep (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The bookcase is structurally sound and in generally good order. The marks that can be seen on the gallery and shelf surfaces are in main dust and dirt which will wipe off. The lower two shelves do have significant ring and liquid marks. The sides are in good condition and not split. The drawer is in generally good condition. The handles are a little bent out of shape but appear to be original. The crossbanded edge beneath the drawer is intact at the front and right hand side. There is however a section of this crossbanding which is detached at the rear of the left hand return. We have two thirds of the missing section. This leaves a 1 cm wide strip that is completely missing. The four legs are original and in good order and the original castors are present. The backboards are original but somewhat dirty. There is no evidence of any woodworm.
An Edwardian mahogany Compactum wardrobe and dressing table. Wardrobe 204 cm high, 140 cm wide, 58 cm deep. CONDITION REPORT: The wardrobe has a small area of chipping and moulding loss to the lower ledge left-hand corner of the cornice. The left-hand side is faded and slightly scratched. The right-hand side is also slightly scratched but less faded. The mirror door appears to be in good overall condition. The upper cupboard doors appear to be in good condition as do the drawers all though there is some slight moulding chipping and loss around some of the edges of drawers and there is some inlay loss to the bottom right-hand corner of the second drawer down and the fourth drawer down. Opening the wardrobe the inside of the cupboard area has a fitted hanging rail and a shelf and this area appears to be in good order,opening the mirrored door reveals a hanging rail and hooks and this area appears to be in good order although the inside of the mirrored door is rather scratched. The dressing table is slightly scratched and faded to the top and the front of the dressing table has a significant amount of scratching above the drawers. There is also some satinwood banding loss to the bottom right-hand corner of the lowest drawer. The right-hand side of the dressing table is rather faded.
A George IV rosewood low open front bookcase, the rectangular top above a plain frieze and adjustable shelving between hinged moulded columns with carved capitals and raised on a plain plinth base, 93 cm x 143 cm x 45 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The top has several marks and scratches throughout, generally usage scratches some with darker staining. The upper right-hand corner has some veneer depletions. The frieze moulding is reattached to the left side with a section missing. The left hand side hinged column has some small depletions, the right hand side column has some marks and scratches etc. The plinth base with some depletions to the left corner, scuffs and staining. The interior with varying degrees of wear, mainly the upper right shelf with various scratches.
An Edwardian inlaid mahogany circular occasional table, the top with central sunburst motif over an X form stretcher with circular under tier. 74 cm x 54 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The table is structurally sound. The top is flat and not warped. There are no splits, there are minor surface scuffs and scratches as on would expect. The legs are all in good order with no repairs or restoration. There are strengthening blocks at the top of each leg and the inside around the inner circumference. The stretchers and low shelf have minor traces of what appears to be long gone old woodworm.
An oak and pine three tier wall mounted bookcase, with shaped and carved crest rail and incised edge decoration. CONDITION REPORT: Height including pediment 99 cm, width at cornice 103 cm, depth at cornice 30 cm, shelf depth 25.5 cm. the bookcase is structurally sound and in generally good order. There is a stress fracture to the right hand side but no movement. There are some minor surface marks and scratches as one would expect but no real issues. The shelf top surfaces are marked and stained. The bottom shelf has been drilled through at some point where it has perhaps been mounted on another piece of furniture. We can see no evidence of any woodworm.
A light oak four tier wall shelf, of Victorian design, with slender baluster turned supports, 106 cm high x 77 cm wide x 26 cm deep. CONDITION REPORT: This wall shelf is faded from being close to the sun and there is slight scuffing and wear throughout together with a couple of shrinkage splits.
A 19th century Chinese hardwood rouge marble topped jardiniere stand, with shelf and raised on shaped legs. Height 65 cm, diameter 48 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The table is in reasonably good order. The marble is not cracked but does have some surface scratches. The carved surround is in generally good condition. There are three edge beads missing. The joints are all a little loose. The lower shelf has a full width stress fracture. One foot has an edge loss. The piece is a little dusty and dirty but the problems really are minimal.
A 19th century Chinese hardwood ladder form stand with three shelves. Height 119 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The two sides of the ladder stand are in basically good order. There are no losses and only slightly looseness of the spindles. The shelf supports require some attention. Some are replaced and others are loose. There is damage to the pierced areas beneath all three shelves.
A 17th/18th century carved and panelled alms cupboard, with apex top, decorated throughout with guilloche, leaf and lunette carving, fitted with single later shelf enclosed by a pair of doors. 63 cm high x 70 cm x 18 cm deep. CONDITION REPORT: This cupboard is a lovely example with good colour to the oak, The moulding to the top is later as is the internal shelf. There is vertical shrinkage splitting to both doors and a split to the right hand side. There is also other damage in places commensurate with age and use.

CONDITION REPORT: The stand is structurally sound with no loose joints. The marble is not damaged. There are no losses to the beadwork or carvings. The legs and shelf are in good order. The stand is somewhat dirty and dusty, particularly within the carvings as is usual.
A Chinese hardwood rouge marble topped jardiniere stand with shelf. Height 80 cm, top 41 cm square (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This table has one very small chip to the edge of inset marble, a split to the right-hand side upper frieze section, together with a loose joint to the under tier at the rear of the table where the under tier meets the leg.
A Victorian later light grey painted bookcase cabinet The rectangular ogee moulded cornice above a pair of astragal glazed doors enclosing three adjustable shelves, the lower part with rectangular moulded top above a pair of double panelled doors enclosing a shelf, on a moulded plinth base, 121cm wide, 44cm deep, 223cm high.
A George IV gonçalo alves carved and gilt brass chiffonier side cabinet attributed to Gillows The shelved superstructure with pierced brass three-quarter gallery and mirrored back, with a central shelf on gilt brass turned support, the breakfront top above pair of double doors with pleated silk ad brass bar grilles, each enclosing adjustable shelves; flanked by trussed moulded supports headed by paterae, on lobed turned feet, 183cm wide, 37cm deep, 138cm high. The reeded pilasters reflect the antique fashion introduced around 1810 by the cabinet-making firm of Gillows of London and Lancaster. Related library furniture was supplied by Gillows for the Library at Tatton Park, Cheshire. Similar library furnishings were also supplied by Gillows to neighbouring Mere Hall in 1815 (see Christie's house sale, Mere Hall, 23 May 1994, lots 188-192). Gonçalo alves or Albuera wood, as Gillows named it, was used from the 1780's, prior to 1823 Gillows possibly called it zebra wood. Nearly a hundred pieces in Albuera wood appear in the Gillow's Estimate Sketch Books from 1823 to 1865. See Susan Stuart, Gillows of Lancaster and London 1730-1840, (Vol II) p.140. A Victorian mahogany bookcase, with detachable moulded cornice above a pair of glazed doors enclosing adjustable shelves, the base fitted with a pair of panelled cupboard doors flanked by fluted pilasters and raised on a plinth. Height across waist 120 cm, depth 47.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Please note that this a secretaire bookcase and the catalogue description is therefore incorrect. The overall height is 220 cm. The width across the waist is 104 cm. The maximum depth is actually 47.5 cm. The left hand cornice top section of moulding is missing and there is some veneer damage to the left hand corner of the frieze. The doors are not warped and close as they should. The centre edging strip has a partial break and is loose but there are no losses. The sides of the top are in good order. The same comments apply to the base. The shelf beneath the cupboard doors have some minor surface scratches. The secretaire drawer is in generally good condition. The leather is a little worn along the seam. The doors beneath are not warped. The centre edging strip is missing. The plinth base is in generally good order all round. The backboards are original. We can see no evidence of any woodworm.
