A RARE LACQUERED, GILDED AND INLAID JAPANESE SWORD STAND WITH INTEGRAL CABINET 'KATANA KAKE KO-HIKIDASHI', last quarter of the 19th century, the russet lacquer finish profusely inlaid and decorated with cranes, goldfish and foliage together with panels depicting cultural objects suchs as a mask, fan and rattle, engraved white metal hinges and mounts, the decoration continuing to the sides, rear and top faces, the back-board with cranes flying before a rising sun (a previous shelf absent), the decorated side-pieces with staggered hooks for three swords, the interior of the five drawers and cupboard finished in black lacquer, decoration continuing inside the cupboard doors (some small losses to finish and three handles lacking, one corner edge moulding detached but present).
