A 17th Century Credence Cupboard. The fine trapezoid cupboard having a centre panel door carved with a row of wrythen whorls tied in guilloche knots. The canted side panels enriched with twin S-scrolls defined against a recessed pitted ground. The muntins adorned with split spindle appliqués and having large turned acorn pendant knops to the corners, standing on cannon barrel legs with astrigal turnings leading down to a base shelf. The rear swing out gate supporting the fold-over demi-lune top, 41 ins (104 cms) wide, 34 ins (86 cms) high.* ]

A 17th Century Oak Partially Enclosed Wainscot Armchair. The arched top rail carved with stylised scrolls of vine & flowers incorporating hearts and punchwork enrichments. The ball turned finials above palmate uprights flanking a large back panel ornamented with foliate scrolls defined against a recessed matted ground. The down-swept arms raised on baluster supports adjoining a plank seat above a twin-panelled front enclosing a shelf uniting the peripheral stretchers. ]

A Rare 17th Century Oak `Adam & Eve` Court Cupboard of small proportions. The plank top with moulded edge stamped T. COLIHOLE above a guilloche carved frieze supported on two turned side posts. The recessed upper cupboard having two arcaded doors; one carved with Adam, the other Eve, flanking a central panel with flowering plant defined against a pitted ground. The lower section incorporating a frieze drawer with raised nulling above turned columns leading down to a lower shelf and terminating with block feet. 46 ins (117 cms) in height, 50 ins (127 cms) in width, 19 ins (48 cms) in depth. ]

A Fine 16th Century Carved Oak Frieze with Shelf. The shelf measuring 51 ins x 5 ins (130 cms x 13 cms) and carved on the underside with leafy C-scrolls, resting on three Ionic capitals born of the heads of bearded men issuing foliage from their mouths. The dividing panels carved with barb-tongued beasts flanking face-less female figures defined against a cut-away & pitted ground, with an applied strip of beading to the base. ]

A Fine Late 16th/Early 17th Century Carved Oak Court Cupboard of modest proportions. The top having a dentil moulded under-edge above a guilloche frieze raised on bulbous cup & cover supports flanking a recessed cupboard. The posts carved with stylised foliage and having gadrooned covers surmounted by scroll capitals. The cupboard having a central door with a recessed panel inlaid with a chequer-banded diamond below a guilloche arch contained in a deep foliate carved frame. The canted sides with similar decoration. The lower section having a long guilloche carved frieze drawer raised on bulbous posts echoing the top, with stile supports to the rear leading down to a base shelf above a rail of undulating foliage. 43¾ ins (111 cms) in height, 45 ins (114 cms) wide, 15 ins (39 cms) deep.* ]

An Antique French Chestnut Standing Panetière/food cuboard. The moulded top with rounded corners overhanging a moulded frieze rail and a single ventilated cupboard door enclosing shelves. The door fitted with a fretted brass escutcheon and having a inset sheet metal panel pierced with decorative perforations depicting cockerels, stars and a monstrance above the date 1823. The open base section with a barred shelf with gallery sides composed of silhouette cut spats between moulded rails. Standing on stile supports with shaped feet 59½ ins (151 cms) high, 25 ins (63.5 cms) wide and 19 ins (48 cms) high. ]

A Fine 17th Century Credence Cupboard. The fold-over demi-lune top measuring 40 ins (102 cms) in diameter on iron butterfly hinges opening out on twin gate supports to the rear. The under-edge adorned with dentil moulding blocks above a ventilated trapezoid cupboard. The centre door decoratively channel-moulded with two diagonal crosses forming fielded triangles; the design repeated on the side panels and drilled with perforations. Standing on cannon barrel turned legs & gate leading down to an under-shelf above shaped and moulded base rails, 33½ ins (85 cms) in height. ]

A Fine & Rare 16th Century Oak Dressoir of unusually small proportions. The top having a deeply moulded pediment surmounted by a turned finial. The back having an upper panel of triangular form accentuated by the central triform petal carving and channel-carved borders. The canted cupboard section having panelled sides and a central door with a quatrefoil iron back plate. The ogee shaped aprons divided by pendant finials over hanging the chamfered back legs and base shelf, raised on block feet joined by run moulded rails. 74 ins (189 cms) in height, 28½ ins (72 cms) in width, 14 ins (36 cms) in depth. ]

Lot 313

An early 20c eight day longcase clock with German weight driven movement (chains missing). With a deadbeat escapement striking on a coiled gong, the 10"diam silvered dial has a gilt centre and the movement has an exposed wood rod pendulum. It is contained in a stained oak with the rectangular box for the movement decorated with foliage carvings and supported on six curved supports with circular piercings and parallel line decoration. The toolbox base has an open top to accomodate the weights and is embellished with two double curved supports with a small shelf over. The base has rectangular feet with line decoration, 90"tall overall.
