A Rare 19th Century Chinese Carved Ebony and Bone Cabinet housing two frieze drawers between upper and lower twin doored cupboards with a canopied under-shelf to the base. The piece intricately fretted & carved with scrolling dragons & foliage incorporating a bone carved censer adorning the central panel, small bone subsidiary panels, drop handles and rows of turned spindles to the doors, 47½ ins (121 cms) high, 46 ins (117 cms) wide, 15 ins (38 cms) deep.
A Chinese Carved Hardwood Table/ Stand. The petalled top with pink marble insert in a carved border of undulating flowers and gadrooned edging. The pierced frieze carved with cherries and foliage raised on grotesque headed legs united by a moulded circular under-shelf and terminating on ball & claw feet, 23 ins (59 cms) high, 21½ ins (55 cms) in diameter.
A superb original drawing SHEPARD ERNEST H.: (1879-1976) English Artist & Book Illustrator. A very fine original pen, ink and coloured crayon drawing signed and inscribed by Shepard, on an oblong 8vo (6.5 x 5) piece of stiff cream card with two uncut edges, the charming illustration depicting Winnie-the-Pooh reaching towards the shelf of a kitchen cupboard, upon which appear two pots of ‘hunny’, with Piglet waiting expectantly at his friend’s side. Signed and inscribed by Shepard in black ink to a clear area at the base of the drawing, ‘Replica drawing for Leif Dahlberg, Ernest H. Shepard’ and dated 28th January 1970 in his hand. A 1960s Maserati interior, finished in cream leather, comprising a pair of front seats, two door cards and other items Condition report Report by MW The model of Maserati which the seats and trim have come from is unknown but the items have come from a long term private ownership. The lot consists of two front seats with integral arm rests, a rear parcel shelf, two door cards, two arm rests and some leather luggage straps. The condition of the leather is generally very good and would appear to have been reconnalised at some point. There are no splits or tears to any of the leather facings but there is some general grubbiness which should clean easily.
Carroll (Lewis) Alice's Adventures In Wonderland, illus by Arthur Rackham, 646/1100, cloth, and other assorted volumes (box) Condition report Report by GH A request is mainly interested in the Alice in Wonderland book. Top left, inside front cover is written Elizabeth Mary Street, in biro, in child's writing. There is also a gift inscription on the third page, which says ' from G J P to Ri SS 26 October 1912 1918 The opposite page is browned, some very light foxing to predominantly the page borders, and occasional marks on some pages. All plates and tissues are present and in good condition with no evident creasing, tearing or folding or any damage. The binding is generally good, with some shelf wear. Some crease marks to the back and some discolouration to the front. Overall good. The printer of the Alice's Adventures in Wonderland book is William Heinemann London, and Doubleday Page & Co New York. There is a piece on the fourth page which indicates that the edition is limited to 1130 copies, of which 1100 are for sale in Great Britain, Ireland and Colonies and 30 are for presentation and this is No 646. There is not a printed year but the gift inscription suggests that it was given as a present in 1912. The copy of A Midsummer Night's Dream illustrated by Arthur Rackham has some inward folds and shelf wear to the binding and cover, and the spine is slightly tatty at the top and bottom, otherwise the binding is strong. There is foxing to the pages throughout the book, however, the plates are in good order, and appear to be all present. The Rip Van Winkle illustrated by Arthur Rackham has a tatty cover with loss to the spine and a slightly loose binding. There is some foxing to many pages, but colour illustrations generally good. A mahogany framed glazed display cabinet on a table base with tapering square section legs and an inner glazed shelf, h. 138 cm, w. 134 cm, d. 66 cm CONDITION REPORT: Some knocks, chips, losses, marks and stains typical for age and shop display use, some alterations. scratches throughout, one of the handles is missing half, scratches to all glass surfaces, wear and tear to felt. The top and the bottom may be a marriage.
