The decoration worn in places, long stored in the attic of a local country house, several of the animals lacking one or more of the legs, tails, etc. Probably in the late owner`s family since new and unrestored. Animals: 2 Leopards, 2 Camels, 1 elephant (trunk broken), 2 zebra, 2 lions, 2 deer, 2 sheep, 2 dogs, 2 cows, 2 leopards, 1 giraffe, 4 birds, 2 Hyenas, 2 wolves, 2 boar, 6 other pairs, 4 single animals (46)

The movement original and apparently complete although in need of cleaning. The case with minor losses and shrinkage crack in the base but of pleasing dry colour

Movement in need of cleaning but complete and original. The case of even light colour with old repair to the skirting around the base
A WILLIAM III WALNUT AND MARQUETRY LONGCASE CLOCK the wheatear engraved brass dial signed on the silvered chapter ring George Cotton London, having matted centred with subsidiary seconds dial, engraved date aperture, ringed winding holes and cherubs and crown spandrels, with eight-day five-pillar movement, the hood with blind fret frieze and spiral pilasters, the moulded door to the trunk profusely inlaid with birds and flowers including tulips and carnations centred by a lentical in floral borders, on conforming base with added mahogany feet, 214cm h, c1700 ++Privately consigned and long in the late owner`s family`s possession, minor old restorations. The dial and movement believed to be original to each other and the case. On early oak seatboard with no evidence of packing. The dial and silvered chapter ring with much accretion of dirt and grime, the seconds hand detached but present, sold with the original or early pendulum with brass faced bob and two brass sleeved lead weights. Consigned by the executors and from the same source as many of the more interesting items in this sale.

A round miniature ivory slip probably for a porcelain medal painted by the Swansea and Nantgarw entrepreneur and one time decorator William Weston Young, with druids in a grove regarding an infant in a hollow tree-trunk, 5cm diameter; and an accompanying booklet from The National Museum of Wales. Cf. The Picture Book of Welsh Porcelain, (The National Museum of Wales, Cardiff 1951), p. 28 for a similar example.
